With the 6th spot up for grabs between Jerrell Jackson , Trycycle Holliday and Jeff Maehl. If Martin ends up returning kicks and punts , it makes it very hard for Holliday to make the final 53.

Don't go to sleep on Mario Louis; he has only played football for 2-1/2 years.

Not only that, the guy that threw the ball to him last year was a freshman (even though D.J. Williams looks to have the bloodline - son of the HC and former NFL QB Doug Williams - he still has a lot of rough edges and lost his starting job; he was back in only when the other freshman QB was injured.)

Also, keep in mind that the 4.56 time he (Louis) put up at his pro day was on a slow track.

18 TDs in 12 games and 22 ypc have got to worth something.

Here's a quick look at Jerrell Jackson.

He broke a wrist and had to wear some form of protective gear early in his Junior season.

The Tigers had Gabbert ar QB.
T.J. Moe was his favorite target (92 catches 1,045 yards) as a slot/possession receiver.
Egnew was his next favorite target (90 for 762 yards) 'cause he is 6'5 and played like a TE/slot receiver (lots of mistmatch as he's "too fast" for the LB and "too big" for the safeties).
Jackson was actually the Tigers' deep threat at the X position.
He had 50 catches for 656 yards and 3 TDs.

In the Nebraska game alone, Jackson broke free deep 3 times with Gabbert missing him all 3 times.

In the redzone (13 yd line), Jackson beat Amakumara (1st round pick) to the corner but Gabbert was late with his throw, alllowing the CB to come back and poke a hand in to break up the sure TD.

I've seen Gabbert missing Jackson in several other games as well.

More on it later.

As a Senior, Jackson suffered a hamstring, missed a lot of practice and didn't play the first two games.

With a new QB, Jackson never had the time to connect with him (not enough reps).
Jackson then had to work his way back into football shape but reaggravaed the hamstring again sometimes during the year.
Basically, he was like AJ last year.

In the meantime, the Tigers ran the ball some 150 times more in 2011.
That tells you something about the new QB.

Both Moe's and Egnew's production was cut almost in half; it shouldn't be surprising to see Jackson's numbers drop drastically either.

The Jackson I saw in 2010 was a different guy; much quicker off the ball, with a very good double move that was not on display in his Senior year.
