Offseason dates of interest

Howdy y'all,

I get to this point every year after the season ends, what's next?

Does anyone have a link, or the entire thing in their head, for the off-season, all the way to the first regular game?

Feb. 20 - Teams can begin applying franchise and transition tags to players

Feb. 22-28 - NFL Combine (live coverage on NFL Network and NFL.com)

March 5 - Deadline for teams to apply franchise and transition tags

March 13 - Free agency begins at 4 p.m.

March 25-28 - NFL owners meetings (in Palm Beach, FL)

March 30-31 - Super Regional Combine

Mid-April - Teams' offseason programs begin (they can hold a maximum of 10 OTAs during the offseason)

Late April - 2012 NFL schedule is announced

April 26 - First round of 2012 NFL Draft (Texans will pick 26th)

April 27 - Second and third rounds of 2012 NFL Draft

April 28 - Rounds 4-7 of 2012 NFL Draft

Late July - Training camps across the league begin

Week 3 - @ Saints (Nationally televised)
Week 4 - Vikings

Week 1 & 2 will be typical uber-meaningless games, but will be fun for me, in NC to maybe get a chance to show up to a game. Week 2 being maybe a good 1st quarter test of our D.

Week 3 might have an opportunity to see who starts at QB for us, as by this time, Schaub's situation should be apparent.

Week 4 --- keep Jared Allen away from Schaub!

I don't think any starters play in week 4 so Schaub nor Allen will be playing.

I'm guessing training camp will begin July 27. The Texans usually start camp about 15 days before the first preseason game.

When is rookie camp? Isn't is this weekend (5/4/12) or is it next weekend (5/11/12)?

The Texans don't have a rookie minicamp. They're the only team not to have a rookie camp.

Instead, what happens is that during the mandatory minicamp in June, Kubiak gives the veterans time off and works with the rookies then. He's been doing that for a long time now, maybe as long as he's been head coach of the Texans.

Actually, we are currently in phase two of our voluntary workouts. Phase one was in mid April. Guess how many didn't show up? None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. The ENTIRE TEAM showed. This locker room is clicking on all systems go.

I believe so.

I think the rookies come in this weekend for some classes and an introduction. Then they hit the field with the vets.

Looks like you're out of luck. Training camp begins July 27. The public viewing dates for training camp will be announced by the team in mid-July.
