WR Notes from Nick Scurfield:
Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor (5-10, 188) Wright was asked about competing against taller receivers for a draft spot. “I have attributes besides height that make up for it,” he said. “I can jump really high, I can run really fast, I can accelerate. I can do a lot of things.” Wright said he sees himself as similar to DeSean Jackson and Steve Smith, smaller receivers who “play fearless and explosive at all times.” Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame (6-2, 220) Floyd listed Andre Johnson along with Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson as big receivers that he really likes. He was asked about his off-field incidents, which include a DUI in March and two prior alcohol-related offenses in college. “Just immaturity,” Floyd said. “You know, people all the time have mistakes like this. Unfortunately, it happened to me on a big stage going across the nation. It’s about moving forward. It’s about making sure you don’t make the same mistake again and just keeping a positive head and staying on the positive side of things.” Floyd said he went to alcohol classes at Notre Dame and started going out less after his incidents. Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech (6-4, 215) The big-bodied receiver anticipates running a blistering 40 time. “I’ve been clocked in the low 4s, 4.4s,” he said. “I’m thinking about running a 4.3 but, you know, whatever happens on Sunday happens.” Hill said he had a 40-inch vertical as recently as two weeks ago. Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina (6-3, 216) Jeffery weighed in much lighter than the 230 pounds he played at in his final college esason. He said he lost the weight by “just working hard, just eating right. I just feel like I’m in shape and feel better, like a lot lighter.” Jeffery said he hopes to run a 4.4 or 4.5 40 and that he thinks he has the best hands in the draft. |

Now Jeffery hedging on whether he'll run or not...
Evan Silva @evansilva Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Jeffery is perplexing. He's shed 15-30 pounds since January, depending who you ask, but he's not running? Cut lbs just to step on a scale? |

Thats not good. GMs are going to want him to run/work out at this weight.

It seems TE are getting shorter. Not seeing many over 6' 4" .. I prefer the bigger TE like Gronk. If they can block and catch across the middle.

All Alshon Jeffery did at Combine was weigh in & interview. Per Tony Pauline, scouts said Jeffery interviewed poorly: Not good. |

Alshon Jeffrey seems like nuclear waste at this point. I'd be very hesitant to draft him in the first round even if I was the Giants or the Pats.

My optimism for Streeter is gone -- all run, no focus, poor body control.

Anybody ever heard of this Steven "4.3 flat !" Hill before ? And he's like 6'4"
& 220, out of GA Tech. He also looked good in the pass catching/pas route skills for the WOs. |

Blackmon seems to play bigger than he is, but he measured just 6 feet and seven-eighths of an inch, and 207 pounds.
Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...#ixzz1nVtcsX00 ***************************** Disappointing, but doubt that it's enough to drop him as the top WR, assuming his 40 time is not that bad (he didn't run the 40 today - hammy they said). |

Have to watch it through again to pick up Hill -- NFLN doesn't do a good job of ID'ing who's up during drills or they talk through too many reps.
I don't like Blackmon as much as others do. Looks like a lot of hit or miss WRs -- poor body control -- balls popping loud off hands. Speed w/out skills. How much can be coached into them versus what just isn't there? ------- Interesting that Luck's athleticism numbers equaled Cam Newton's from last year. RGIII -- love the kid, amazing athlete, what a great attitude. |

http://www.ramblinwreck.com/sports/m...stephen00.html &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& That's the Tech bio page on him. He is a very impressive athlete who has Andre Johnson like combo of size/speed. Re his hands, he caught everything thrown his way in the pass-receiving drills and made it look easy at todays Indy combine. Plus with this guys impressive size, surely he could block downfield for Kubiak, something he expects from his WRs. |

Wright's 40 time definitely didn't help his stock today... Maybe he'll make it to our pick after all!
