Bright side: Carr looks OK.

I sure am glad the Texans had Carr in the game down 42 to 10 with 5 minutes left. Nice respect for your QB--does he really deserve more punishment? Is there anyone here that thinks Peyton Manning or name any QB you want could pull out 5 TD's in 5 minutes? How about giving the guy a break or making him freakin sit?

But hey, the projected sack total for the year is down from 108 to 96 and if you want to be even more optimistic, IF they could only keep up this sack rate for the rest of the season it would be 72 so there is a chance (not realistic, but hey we are trying to be optimistic, not that this has ANY FREAKIN AFFECT ON THE QB PLAY) that Carr may not break his own record for single most sacked QB--AGAIN. That should be very reassuring to him.

Seriously, Carr has things to work on and they are pretty plain, at the same time people who want to act like we really have seen what he would do on a decent team are delusional. If Joe Theisman (the QB equivalent of a dead mushroom) can figure out that the Seahawks are going to sit on all the short routes because Carr's pass protection sucks do you really think other teams can't? Give Mike Holmgren two weeks time in Seattle and he would have Carr looking like Hasselbeck and sadly, Capers and Co. would have Hasselbeck looking like car--that would be up at the sky seeing Tweety, watching his HB get stuffed at the LOS or at the field from the sideline.

Carr looked decent tonight. First sack I put on him as he held the ball too long. But at least he is staying in the pocket and making better decisions for this game. I still think he has ALOT of room for improvement before he is going to crack my 'great QB' line. But he definitely is improving, so perhaps Pendry has done some good that Palmer couldn't seem to do.

our Defense looked like high schoolers out there tonight.

when Carr and company figure out how to score more than their current average of 11 points a game I will be more impressed.

I also was impressed with the way Carr played tonight. I didn't see happy feet. I didn't see that shell-shocked look in his eyes. With the so little time that he to throw the ball, he had more poise then I've seen in long time.

And a curious observation. Andre Johnson didn't play tonight. Maybe AJ being on the field isn't such a good thing for Carr.

Yes, but we don't employ the weapons we really have. Its sad that people simply don't understand (may be I should say owner) that is only coaching and we have very bad ones at that. No, Carr is a lot better than Vinny thinks, but you probably never prove that to him with this O-line. Its really sad when almost everyone in the league can see the obvious, but McNair can't. Playing the way we are we had better hope and pray that Carr doesn't get hurt. Wong got hurt and he was the defensive general on the field. I would imagine that had some impact on what happened. Carr is taking a lot and I'm afraid its only a matter of time before he's injured. He takes a relentless beating.

That sentence in bold red Ibar, is the very reason why you don't have much credibility. No owner worth his salt is going to fire the coaching staff midseason. Not even Bud Adams would be stupid enough to do that.

Unfortunately every situation has to be evaluated for what its worth. This is not a normal bad coaching job. Its beyond bad and quite frankly Capers and company may wind up getting Carr injured. Other teams have fired midterm and while its not the norm it has to be done in this case. If you look at what I have said was going to happen the last two years I hate to say I have been more on than not. You have a very rigid inflexible coach who does not have the staff to play his kind of game and he's trying to fit square pegs in round holes and it ain't going to happen. You are going to loose more than you gain by keeping Capers and continuing down the current path. Open your eyes to the reality of the situation we are in. You have to bring in an experienced outside person if you do what I say. I would not put any of the assistants incharge of this team.

Some clowns want to pin everything on Carr saying things like the coaches are dumbing down the offense because Carr can't handle it. I say it's the line the coaches are dumbing down for. Again tonight, 4 man rush and Carr get's pressured. Mckinney got spun like a bad CW dancer. Horrible.

19 of 33 for 160 yards is 'OK' by you? Shaun Alexander averages more yards per carry rushing on the year than we do per pass attempt. Heck, there are numerous running backs outdoing our per pass play average. Yes, he didn't get intercepted and he did throw a couple passes away without taking the sack, but I don't think anything under 6 yards per attempt is considered 'OK' by NFL standards.

Did anyone see Leinhart throw that 4th down, 4th quarter pass to his wide receiver for what amounted to 61 yards on Saturday? It was under a full blitz with defenders in his face. That's what real QBs do under pressure.

Mean Mark...I totally can't agree. Now sure, I'd rather 3 of USC's O-line than 3 of our starters...but to use Leinart as the measuring stick presenting that Carr could learn from Leinart's poise is not only ilinformed...but you sound sort of dumb. Have you NOT payed attention to what's going on with Carr's protection.

If you want to see "presence in the pocket"...simply look at Carr tonight on the pass to Gaffney where was laid-flat by winstrom directly after releasing the pass (3rd Quarter, I believe). These Carr bashers are out-of-control.

You know...if someone has a bloody left foot. It's best to look for things that caused said bloody foot...not just say "we need a new left foot...look at the right foot, it's not bleeding".

its unrealistic to compare a college QB to an NFL QB with a horrible line. People did that when Charles Rogers too and countless other QB's that have had success in college (Wienke, All Texas Tech QB's etc...) It's apples and oranges. You saw tonight how the coaches wanted quick throws to ease the pressure of Carr, and once again when Carr had time he made a good percentage of his throws to recievers who were open. Go figure out why when we are down by 20 we run a 2 WR set.

My eyes are wide open to the situation. Yes, of course, change is needed. But all the experienced outside persons are already employed by other teams, or else they wouldn't have the experience, right?

His 19 of 33 was due to him finally doing what so many people here have been calling for - throwing the ball away before getting sacked. If he had held the ball to try for more completions, we'd have had 5+ sacks again last night.

I think Carr realizes that this is the end of this coaching staff, AND that he will likely still be "the man" for the new regime.

The Seattle QB was impressive, but I'm convinced Carr would be as impressive if he were the one in that offense. He's a better athelete with an
arm that is even stronger than Hasselbacks.
But we got a basic conflict here: the team is again in rebuilding mode but the
HC is in survival mode. The idea of leaving Carr in the game until the very end is irresponsible and risking our most important asset (assuming McNair picks up that 8 M option and I'm making that assumption, but if not his trade value as a healthy QB).
I'm sure McNair wishes last night was the season finale instead of just the first game of the last 3/4 of the season, because what he has at this point in time is a PR nightmare which is growing by each humiliating loss. And last
nights was there on ESPN for a national audience, though I doubt that many were watching that long.

Carr would be great behind a decent line. And 19-33 is still a 57% completion. Thats okay considering about 5 incompletes were because he threw the ball away instead of taking a sack
