So if someone were to ask McKinney "What do you think the problem is with the offense?" and McKinney just answers the question, "It's David Carr" he's not pointing fingers, he's just......answering the question???

I think he did just say that....Carr has poor pocket feel and runs into defenders while the linemen have a hard time figuring out where he is. It's tough to block for someone when you don't have a clue where he will be. There is a problem with protection and a problem with the quarterbacking on this team...both have issues.

Dunta has been beaten on quite a few passes. It's the zone that makes all our DBs look bad though. We can have 6-7 DBs in and still be beat for a 19yd pick up. Our zone D blows. Our defense would make a Run N Shoot look great.

Good example of how tough it is to judge that against the Titans. On one of the sacks there was a fair pocket, but the left edge (Riley) started to give. Between the RT and RG a huge hole started to appear. DD would have hit it in an instant for a huge gain. Carr chose that instead of stepping forward toward McKinney/Wiegert. Wade allowed the DE to reverse direction on him and close the hole for the sack. Could Carr have stepped up against McKinney and made a throw?--maybe--can't tell from the broadcast but possible. Did Wade fail?--absolutely--if he had run that guy to the back end of the pocket, Carr had an open field. Instead sack number 2052. Maybe Carr failed to stay in the pocket, definitely Wade failed to run the DE out--who failed the play?--hmmm, need the Texans film.

The blocking was an absolute low point vs the Tacks. I can't blame him for much of anything in that game...but I have seen enough to know he is more Rob Johnson than Brett Favre.

That was by no means meant as a defense of Carr. Instead it was an illustration of total systems breakdown. Wade failed. Beyond that it is hard to judge.

Thanks for that Vinny. You nailed my thought so no need to repeat. Original guy mentioned Ron Mexico. For all of his athletic ability Mexico has the same problem. The Falcons had almost the same number of sacks as the Texans in 2004. Vick (Mexico) moves around and often into as much trouble has runs out of with a "great" play. The best QB in the pocket are guys like Brady and Manning who step one way or the other and focus on releasing the ball quickly.

While stuck here in Cowboy country I get to see Bledsoe. Bledsoe looks really good in the games where he has near perfect protection and he gets the ball out quickly. If things breakdown even a little bit he is not the same Qb. IMO, Carr shows a lot of the same characteristics as Bledsoe. Carr better runner, but pressure seems to have the same effect on his game.

IMO, McNair was throwing from the pocket very well. Several times, he stayed in the pocket with Texans in his face and completed the pass. Too, he use to be one of those 'bail-out' QB's that didn't hesitate to run. What do you think?

I absolutely agree that as rare as pockets are, Carr does not take full advantage of them and more often, doesn't take advantage of room on the field to maneuver as some other QB's. Either way, it is a question of feeling the pressure. Carr tends to go from stopped to full flight for the sidelines. I would like to see him step up, then bail, then stop, then cut back, then head for the sideline. Not literally on every play, but you get the point.

I just think it's odd that the team didn't have this high of a meltdown until about two quarters into the Cleveland game last season.

Since then, NOTHING has been what it was. We were holding teams to ZERO TDs, bashing Tennessee twice, crushing Jacksonville twice, etc.

The team last season looked cohesive and unified even though it took the last part of the season to really come alive.

And now? It just goes up in smoke? Will the real David Carr step up? Will the real offensive line step up? Will the real playcalling step up?

Which is the real Texans team? The one that seemingly came on so strong last season that a playoff run was predicted by most NFL analysts, or the one that is making last year's team llok like a fake and a fraud?

I'll say it again: Even though the line is and has always been known to be shaky compared to other playoff-caliber teams, and we all agree to it, you have to admit that Carr was getting the job done. DD was getting the job done. Dunta was getting the job done. Fast forward and look at it now: DD is getting the job done. Dunta is getting the job done. But Carr AND the o line are NOT getting the job done. Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

It's just 50-50: 50% Carr because he won't admit to his own poor play, as well as the fact that he's used the media to slap the other WRs in the face, and 50% o line because they have obviously lost any ability to care about leaving the guy standing up at the end of a play.

There's bad blood in H-Town, and there just needs to be a good old fashioned Come to Jesus Meeting where the whole team eats each other out and gets it out of their system.

Drew is a pocket passer. He'll stay in the pocket till it collapses and then he'll get sacked. David doesn't have that luxury. He has no pocket.

Actually this team has been struggling to pass the ball for about the last 12 -13 weeks and this stretch is long and ugly. The last 12 games the passing totals were 215, 164, 201, 157, 167, 220, 131, 114, 70, 167, 174, and 131 yards with a collective average of 159 yards per game. That's not gonna win a NFL team many games.
