When you guys make a mock draft what perspective do you take?
1. Mock made trying to predict what the Texans will do? 2. Mock made suggesting players that will fit the Texans system and be appropriate for the team? 3. Mock made as if your the GM/HC and these are the moves you'd make if you were in charge? I've been curious about this since I think many of us take different perspectives. |

I think its a combination. I mock what I would do while guessing what Smithiak is looking for, which means that the players are ones I would like for the Texans system.

Based on 2 and 3, 3 mostly. When I make mocks I look at A.) Is the player BPA on the board? B.) Does he fill a need? and C.) How much of an immediate impact can he make.
For example, if there is a WR who is rated lower than a RB but the WR has a chance to make an immediate impact compared to the RB, I tend to go with that WR. |

3 with a little bit of 2.
For instance, I look for ZBS OL, larger 5 techs and OLB's with size/pass rushing skills. I pick the guys I think would pick that fit Gary/Wades system. (Ricks job) |

I usually lean toward #3.
I would even take it a quite a bit farther and imagine that I have total control over the idiots running my team (Browns) and can do a much better job than any of them have shown they are capable of doing. You know, kinda like that old gangster movie where Al Capone goes into the meeting and their all sitting around the table and he has the baseball bat and whacks some poor loser upside the head. At least that how it always seems to work out when I'm daydreaming. LOL I follow the Texans every week and really enjoy the mocks you guys/gals come up with. Just kiddin about that baseball bat thing, being a lifelong Brown's fan can lead to a pretty vivid imagination. LOL

Look at whatever everybody else thinks then put a draft following whatever they say.

2 and 3. It's hard not to look at need, but I think its best for the long run to go BPA. Hopefully, BPA fills a need as well. If not I think you fill needs through FA.
