Default Texans-Ravens postgame notes

Week 6:

• The loss dropped the Texans to 3-3 on the season and 0-5 all-time against Baltimore. Head coach Gary Kubiak dropped to 40-46 all-time, 0-3 against Baltimore and 5-5 against the AFC North.

• The Texans lost the time of possession battle for the first time this season, holding the ball for 27:48.

• The Texans won the turnover battle for the fourth time this season and fell to 2-2 in those games.

• The Texans were held without a score on its opening drive for the first time since the season opener vs. Indianapolis (9/11).

• The Texans trailed after the first quarter for the first time this season. Houston has led after 15 minutes in each of its first five games.

• Houston trailed at halftime for the first time in nine games and the first time this season. The last game in which the Texans trailed at intermission was 12/19/10 at Tennessee.

• The Texans’ 80-yard touchdown drive in the third quarter was the team’s first touchdown of the season in the third quarter.

• Houston’s touchdown following the fumble gave the team 45 points off of 9 takeaways this season.

• The Texans won the toss and elected to receive.

• Team captains were QB Matt Schaub on offense, ILB DeMeco Ryans and DE Antonio Smith on defense and K Neil Rackers representing the special teams.

• ILB Brian Cushing registered his 250th career tackle when he stopped Baltimore RB Ray Rice for a 5-yard loss on the final play of the third quarter. Cushing entered the game with 245 career stops.

• TE Owen Daniels extended his streak of consecutive games with a catch to 59 on an 8-yard reception in the second quarter.

• DE Tim Jamison registered his first sack of the season and the second of his career when he dropped Baltimore QB Joe Flacco for a 9-yard loss in the second quarter. Jamison’s first sack came on 12/26/10 at Denver.

• Jamison recorded a sack-fumble in the second quarter and recovered the fumble. It was his first career forced fumble and his first career fumble recovery. It also marked Jamison’s first multi-sack game.

• WR Jacoby Jones caught his 10th career touchdown pass when he hauled in a 32-yard throw from QB Matt Schaub on Houston’s opening drive of the third quarter. It was Jones’ first touchdown catch of the season.

• Jones had a season-high 76 receiving yards, topping his previous high of 48 yards in Week 2 at Miami (9/18).

• CB Johnathan Joseph intercepted his third pass of the season when he picked off a throw from Baltimore QB Joe Flacco in the second quarter. It was Joseph’s third career interception against Baltimore and the 17th of his career overall.

• Joseph’s interception was the 10th takeaway of the season for the Texans.

• FS Danieal Manning led the team with a season-high 11 tackles, including 9 solo stops.

• WR Derrick Mason made his debut as a Texan after joining the team in a trade on Wednesday. Mason made his first reception as a Texan on Houston’s opening drive, picking up 11 yards and a first down on the catch.

• With his third catch of the day, Mason tied former Washington Redskins WR Art Monk for 11th on the NFL’s all-time reception list. The catch was the 940th of his career.

• OLB Brooks Reed made his first career start. He finished with 6 tackles, including 3 solos, a pass defensed and a quarterback hit.

• QB Matt Schaub threw a touchdown in his 14th straight game, extending his own team-record streak, when he hit WR Jacoby Jones on a 32-yard scoring strike in the third quarter. The touchdown pass was Schaub’s 10th of the season and the 93rd of his career.

• G Wade Smith scored his first career touchdown when he recovered a fumble in the end zone in the second quarter. It was his second career fumble recovery, his first coming on 12/19/10 at Tennessee.

• Smith became the first Texans offensive lineman to score in a game.

• Smith recovered his second fumble of the game when he fell on a fumble by QB Matt Schaub in the fourth quarter.

• RT Eric Winston started his 77th consecutive game, tying him with teammate Mario Williams (2006-10) for the second-longest consecutive starts streak in team history. He has started every game since Week 11 of the 2006 season vs. Buffalo (11/19/06). G Chester Pitts holds the franchise record with 114 consecutive starts from 2002-09.
