Although I don't really agree with most here that Kubiak is a bad coach, I can understand the reasoning that in today's NFL, 5 years without getting to the playoffs might warrant a change.

But if you're going to change coaches, at least make it an upgrade, or else what is the point?

I've asked this before, and I'll ask it again. If Kubiak produced only 6 winning seasons in 17 years, would you be happy with that?

If not, why would you be happy with Fisher?

You know what makes me happy in all of this? Titans fans are absolutely PISSED that their boy got his ass kicked on national TV and the rest of the NFL told Andre "No big deal man, that guy is an ass", and then fined Finnegan too because he is, an ass.

Titans just got done dirty on all fronts while the Texans and their fans were able to chuckle about it for an extra few days.

Based on what I saw out of Jeff Fisher this past game, I have to take him off my list.

Instead of trying to coach his players, he was always running around with his arms stretched out asking for a flag on almost every tough play. He has lost his edge over the past few years, which I think coincides with the acquisition of VY and Bud Adams' meddling. He's tired. He's worn out. And everything about the Titans has finally caught up with them, and with Fisher too.

In addition, let me say that Gruden starting a non-story about Derek Anderson on MNF has also made me remove Gruden frmo my list.

I still don't think Kubiak has the ability to effectively prepare this team, especially in terms of the weekday preparation and strategy you should employ against each DIFFERENT opponnent (and to me, it looks like we do the same thing each week and expect to win each week. Not gonna' happen in today's NFL. You have to take risks, change up your habits and style a bit.). I don't want Gruden coming here and being a fire starter. Look at what he did with the QB situation in Tampa: He did the same thing there, where he had like 4 QBs and he essentially tried to make all four of them compete week-to-week and look how that turned out. He is a fire starter, IMO.

As much as I dislike Kubiak's strategy planning and implementation of gameplans (and to some degree the way he doesn't make changes faster with personnel and coaches) at least he's trying VERY hard to stay civil, stay classy, and to not go nuts like Fisher has.

Of course, Fisher has been doing this for a looooong loooooooooong time now. A season like he's having this year, after how much he has endured in the past, is enough to push anyone over the edge IMO.

All of this is to say that I must now say that Bill Cowher remains, IMO, as the one guy on my potential HC list who appears to have kept his class and isn't trying to grandstand and make things about him.

Still not happy with Kubiak as the long-term HC here. But after this weekend, and after watching Gruden create a ridiculous NON-story last night, those two guys can stay away from my team as far as I am concerned. I just got very bad vibes about Gruden when he did what he did last night and we look back and see what he did with QBs back in Tampa Bay. Dude is a mouth.

What QB would be thrilled to know that the new head coach is going to be Gruden? I wouldn't.

Yeah, the key to winning is to have a mean look on your face. Never smile unless you are winning. How absurd...

If I got guys playing cards on the bench during a game, then we got a problem. If a guy sits down and smiles or GASP! laughs if a guy says a joke or something lighthearted, and we happen to be losing, then someone stop me if I start wrongly connecting dots and try to say THAT is what's wrong with this team.

Somebody will hire the guy. That's probably why he is distancing himself from the Hurricane college gig. I don't trust that guy's motives. Collecting QBs at Tampa, starting a different QB every week. Pulling them. Pushing them. Playing them off one another. And now trying to take a snapshot of Anderson and use it to belittle him and to create a shock story out of it. That's bad character, IMO.

Someone can say I am doing the same thing about Gruden right now. But I would not have felt this way had he not publicly shamed Anderson on MNF. Now it's becoming a pattern. There's a theme being established, IMO.

All he had to do is balance it out: "Anderson smiling and laughing down there on the sideline. [pause] you know, there's two ways you can look at that. On one hand, you don't want to see anybody on your team 'happy' about getting drubbed. On the other hand, there's something to be said about keeping a smile and trying to stay positive." Then he could move on and talk about handling adversity and blah blah blah. But no, he had to belittle him. Judged Anderson's heart (on national TV) and ruled on the verdict: Guilty. I don't think Anderson is a good QB, but he got jobbed pretty bad, IMO.

I was never a fan of Gruden even before yesterday, but I want him here even less now. Same with Fisher. He's a mediocre coach at best. Right now it's hard to see who will be available to coach, but whoever we end up getting, it better not be Gruden or the Fish.

And four of those six winning seasons came in a five year stretch when McNair was at his best.

I don't feel like doing the research right now but how many teams with a 2000 yd rusher did not have winning seasons?

This is only his 16th full year as coach, but yeah, I was surprised by the winning pct. The hype definitely exceeds the product.

Is it just me, or is there a pretty good correlation (sp?) between a team's success and at how high of a level its QB is functioning?

Manning. Brady. Brees. Rivers. Steve McNair. Elway. Montana. Rothlisberger.

Even the Ravens, when Flacco is doing a good job of managing the game, seem to excel and succeed.

The longer I am a fan of this game, the more I can't ignore that a coach's success just might be hitched to the wagon of a very consistent and productive QB.

So would that change your view of Fisher? I'm not looking for validation, because I think it's time for him to go as well. But Fisher has had one solid, consistent quarterback since the move: McNair. If we go off the reports that VY was Buds choice, and not Fisher's, and going off of what you just said, we shouldn't totally blame Fisher for his lackluster overall record since McNair left. In fact, we should commend him even more for the 10-0 start two years ago.

Personally, I believe Fisher to be an above average coach; I think mediocre is harsh, because you do have to look at the intangibles (the move, like GP said, little consistency at QB outside of McNair, etc.) but the most damning thing for Fisher's stay in Nashville is he couldn't win when he had the best team (2000, 2008). After this season's implosion, it's time for him to go. If not this off season then next.

How do you know Fisher can't be a real good coach with a good owner and a real organization? The man has only worked for Bud Adams which in itself is a huge handicap. Name me one head coach that has excelled under Bud Adams? One ... waiting .... Bum Phillips? Donk ... no ... we all loved Bum but Fisher went further than he did. Even Bum himself said how impossible it was to work for Bud Adams.

Anyone else? Jerry Glanville ..lol, Ed Biles yeah right, Jack Pardee ...of course not.
