Post Senior Bowl Mock Draft

read & weep. just updated post senior bowl. a game dominated by defensive players. Moved Dan Williams up 5 spots from #17 Tennesse to #12 Miami, best DT fit for active 3-4 nose a high demand now with so many teams switching schemes. out of nowhere I moved Sean Weatherspoon to solidify the middle of Giants defense #15 he is a leader, playmaker alot similar to Rolando McClain who I moved up to #5 for KC. Mike Iupati hanging around Texans slot, raw talent but coachable, changed selection up even after first thinking best fit would be Pittsburgh, didn't help his stock in game so changed pick to Green Bay. Oh yeah, can't forget about the Texans pick, CB Kyle Wilson Boise State. Predicated on Texans not resigning Dunta Robinson. Very confident, sure footed, above average speed, seeks ball out & will contest WR for position, ascending prospect. Also moved Brandon Graham way up to #24 to the Eagles who need a pass rusher. Patrick Robinson was more impressive than I thought he would be, has great size & feet, we'll see but the Colt secondary could be exposed in the Superbowl.

Looks pretty good beerlover. Only thing is, you are going to get grilled over passing on Thomas for Wilson. I like the move though, grab a FS in next years draft. I have my eye on North Carolina's Deunta Williams. Plus, if DRob is gone, CB becomes a much more pressing need.

If Dunta leaves, CB becomes our biggest hole by far! But I am really not comfortable with letting him go. Quin ain`t no Nr.1 cornerback and giving that position to a rookie would be really risky. And I can`t believe a coach in his contract year would want to go in a season with a rookie and a second year player at CB... so I´d try somehow to resign Dunta.

And then take Thomas ;-). I´d also be fine with Iupati or Dan Williams... maybe even with Taylor Mays. He has all the talent in the world, but still needs a lot of good coaching to become that impact player. If he does, he may develope into a real defensive force... if he doesn`t he could become a real costy bust. Oh, and any chance that DT Houston from Texas is available in the second round? He looked good today...

didn't you see the Herman Munster-like play? He didn't bend well at the hips and knees and he was reaching and grabbing instead of moving his feet and punching. He played about as bad as a youngster could play on the line.

I agree with Beerlover on Kyle Wilson at #20, this is a very deep year for Safeties and a good one can be had on another round. Also FS isn't a major need. It would be nice to upgrade from Eugene Wilson but he has played well for the position and CB and OG are much bigger needs.

Yeh there is a little wagon rollin along that has picked up a few knee jerkers. He did have a bad day but if you consider what he went through this week, who he had to go up against today, where he came from and the coaching he has had up until now, you would be a fool to give up on him after a bad allstar game.

He is intelligent, huge (not in a bad way), has really long arms, really strong, athletic and very agile for his size. With the right coaching the sky is the limit.

The Dolphins coaching staff experiemented using Iupati @ multiple positions to test out his mobility in space since he does have a tackles frame, in context of the game he looked real bad but in terms of exposing strength & weakness it reinforced his NFL position, at least now as a LG only. I saw some of his faults inside too during practice, not natural knee bender, too upright, needs to move his feet to reset position etc, etc, but with a good NFL line coach because of his athletic ability can be corrected. So I think they did more harm to Iupati's draft stock & more good for NFL teams who where thinking along the same lines.

It's been a down year for Steelers consider they just won the Super Bowl last year & are now picking ahead of the Texans. Tomlin has changed OL coaches bringing in ex Buffalo Sean Kugler, fundamentalist, rock solid schematically & coaches players to finish, perfect match for Iupati's raw tools. Mike also passes the eye test, would look even more formidable in Pittsburgh yellow & black (not the same as Texans Steel Blue). They should have matched Alan Faneca F/A contract, since they drafted him in first rd. (27th) 1998 but they didn't, went over to the Jets & really helped that line improve while a big hole still exists in Pittsburgh. If the Steelers don't select him the next team might just be the Green Bay Packers, selecting #23. maybe they flip picks, Bulaga would look great in Pittsburgh yellow & black as well since everytime I watch Iowa play I think of the Pittsburgh Steelers, oh well, its early & just another mock draft.

I ahve been thinking that Pitt is a good landing spot for Iupati also. If Thomas or someone else we really like falls to Pitt and they really want Iupati maybe there is a trade up scenerio for us.

Umm, what did "he go through"? He went through the same process every other player went through. I seriously don't know where you're trying to go with that. And he went up against the top players in college (just like every other player on that field)....and got his ass handed to him. Those players aren't even on the level of players he'll be facing week in and week out in the NFL.

I also don't give a crap where he went to school, not when I'm looking for somebody who I'm going to have to spend a 1st round pick on. This guy was hailed "the best guard prospect in years". If that is the case and if he's worth a 1st round pick, then we shouldn't be sitting here considering excuses about "what he had to go through this week" and "who he had to go up against", and "where he went to school", because things are only going to get more stressful at the next level and the competition is only going to get tougher there as well. We aren't thinking about drafting this guy in the 3rd round.....the excuses you just manufactured for this guy is excuses you hear about 3rd round prospects. I don't want to hear excuses when they carry a 1st round grade, if they carry that many built in excuses I'd rather spend that pick elsewhere.

He got moved all over the OL all week. They wanted to see him in different positons.

There not excuses there facts. He is in fact from a small school and will need to be coached to get his mechanics up to speed. The two go hand in hand. The guy proved all week long he has the physical ability to be a special player for many years come. If you choose to use a few bad minutes of film from an allstar game over that then I dont know what to tell you.

Like your changes, but in your scenario I take Earl Thomas whether we keep Dunta or not. Earl may also have the ability to play CB and be a #1. I think we'll see and hear some interesting things at the combine about what he'll bring to a team. If he can play CB, he probably won't make it to our pick.

Kyle Wilson is a good player but not a 1st rounder.

He will go in the 2nd round where i would love to have him but 1st is too early.

We would not pass up Earl Thomas if he was available.

I watched Iupati in his bowl game and he looked great.

With good coaching he could be great. He has all of the ability in the world.

With that said after his Sr. Bowl performance I would pass on him at 20.

Too much risk, it looks like pick no.20 will come down to Spiller,Thomas,Odrick, or Wilson. I dont know who I would take. Williams will be gone at 20. After his stellar Sr.Bowl performance.

This years Scouting Combine should be very interesting.

Lance Z just slotted him today at the sixteen slot to San Fransisco. Did you watch the humanitarian Bowl ? His stock is rising not falling. Iupati hits a major need for a ZBS fixing to run a gantlet of a whole bunch of 3-4 teams with great front threes. Like the cowboys...Baltimore.. He's like Vontea Leach when he gets into them with the first blow, they giggle like a plate of jello. I'll worry about him covering outside next season. The odds are Iupati 'll be gone by twenty. Which makes your protest flat out silly.
