With the NFL schedule out and with FAs almost over here is my latest mock draft...
Round 1 ~ Clay Matthews - OLB - USC * Matthews is a hard worker with an excellent football IQ and aggressive attitude. No doubt he is one of the hardest working athletes in the NFL Draft and going from a walk-on to backup LB in one of the best LB corps this past season, he is a sure 1st round pick. Not much starting expierence but has plently of gas in the tank and will make an immediate impact. Round 2 ~ Rashad Johnson - S - Alabama * As much as I like our current S, it doesn't hurt to add another one to our defensive secondary. Excells in the backfield and is a hard worker like Matthews and is a good leader and will no doubt play with passion. Round 3 ~ Lawrence Sidbury, Jr. - DE - Richmond * Signing Antonio Smith doesn't solve our pass-rush problems. Smith to me is another Mario Williams in the sense that he is suited to take on the OT but he doesn't produce in terms of sacks. Sidbury can produce double digit sacks because he is a bit shorter but has good speed and can get into the backfield. Round 4 ~ Jonathan Luigs - C - Arkansas * As much as I respect Myers, Luigs is better suited to replace him at C and he comes from a ZBS scheme and has the size and bulk to excell. Round 4 ~ Keenan Lewis - CB - Oregon State *He might be gone by this time but if he is still on the board he should be taken. He is quick and has a decent 40 time. Will compete for playing time and adds another DB to our depth. Round 5 ~ Herb Donaldson - RB - Western Illinois * A productive back from a small school that has the bulk and size needed in order to pound the rock up the middle and take on LBs. He will probably split carries with Slaton and be our feature goal line RB. Round 6 ~ Greg Isander - OG - West Virginia * Big, strong, and naturally aggressive guard who hails from a ZBS scheme offense. Should compete for a starting role and maybe start and take over the starting role. Round 7 ~ Vance Walker - DT - Georgia Tech Another DT to add to our depth. As much as I love Sidbury....and Rashad Johnson....I'd sacrifice one of them to get a better C/G prospect. Not arguing were you have them....Just saying I'd sacrifice one of them to get a more versatile, high end prospect than drafting a true center and a true guard later. Bang the need with one guy early who can cover all three interior positions. and if you take him early enough...you get one who can cover RT too. Your seventh rounder couldn't make the PS. Indulge yourself a offensive talent ?

Max Unger would fit your criteria and I would love to grab that guy. With the 7th Round pick, I can't really think of anyone that jumps out at me...maybe another project player. Vance Walker would be nice or Sammie Lee Hill from Stillman, but I doub't these guys would fall to the 7th Round. |

Plauisble, just like most submissions of mocks. My wish list:
1 - Clay Matthews LB 2 - Rashad Jennings RB 3 - Jonathan Luigs OC/G 4 - James Casey TE 4 - David Bruton FS 5 - Henry Melton DE 6 - Tyronne Green OG 7 - Quan Cosby WR

1. Matthews, NO.
2. Johnson, good player but to early to be picking a FS when our bigger need is at SS. 3. Sidbury, good player but to early to be looking for a backup/rotational DE. 4. Luigs, good pick he can replace Myers or Brisiel, an upgrade either way. 4. Lewis, not another mid round CB, what's he gonna add that we don't already have. 5. Donaldson, I don't know anything about him. RB is appropriate in the 4th or 5th. 6. Isdaner, good pick, fills a need and already plays the ZBS. 7. Walker, good player but won't be around in the 7th. |

Jennings is probably gonna go mid to late second, imo.
He isn't one of those guys that played at Liberty because he wasn't good enough to play at a higher level. He transferred from Pitt to Liberty because his father was diagnosed with diabetes and he wanted to be closer to him. He had dynamite practices at the Senior Bowl and put up great numbers at the combine for a back his size. What's not to like? |

I like Jennings, and I like him for the Texans. It could be perceived as a reach from a pre-draft standpoint, but do not think it will be a reach when we review the following years.

McClain's sources must be telling him that Stephen McGee is hot and going some where in the middle rounds. I would like to see him with the seventh though. 4.6 on the edge rolling out in a moving pocket.....if his accuracy improves would be nice as a back up to MS in a couple of years.

I dunno about that....torn ACL isn't it ? Who ever takes him will have to IR him won't they....have to declare him by October seventh isn't it? Rehab is going to taske eighteen months until he is 100%. Someone with a boat load of mid round picks might take a flyer on him. But if he does drop....wouldn't be a bad move to hide him on the IR list. Who ever does it.

I'm going to tell you guys something.....If they do take Mathews at fifteen....he is your emegency H back TE. And if they are going to take someone, a receiver that high....I'd prefer Austin Colie of BYU or a WR with return skills.
