i beg to differ...i've heard that earl is good to go almost...kffl.com quoted this website as saying he's competing for the starting SS position...not the back-up...as well as ramon walker...and personally i hope it's a very close battle between all three of them...i'd love to see earl as our starting SS...brown is the veteran and is pencilled in as the starter heading into training camp...but this is a what have you done for me lately league...and lately brown wasn't coming up with the good hits and ints...he wasn't an emotional player...earl might be the spark this defense needs...how many of ya'll saw him play at notre dame...i'll be first to admit i'm not a fighting irish fan but you couldn't watch a irish game without noticing number 19...i like him a lot...i think he could be someone special

Trust me when I say that kffl had zero basis for that headline other than second and third hand information/opinion. They often create headlines that don't match the themes much less the content of the work they are "paraphrasing." At best, Earl will compete for the backup SS position this season behind Eric Brown. He probably is further ahead than Walker in his rehab.


They took this statement:

"ACL tears usually take at least a year to rehab so both Walker and Earl could be question marks until mid-season," and somehow came up with this headline:

"Texans | Earl To Compete For Starting SS Spot - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 23 Jun 2004 12:23:34 -0700"

...while the statement was written in the context that Brown's competition should come from Walker and Earl but (since they are both coming off serious injury) the backup spot is really unsettled...

In other words, don't believe everything you read on the internet.

yeah i realized that a few minutes after i made the post i went back and looked...oh well...still glenn earl has the potential to be a serious contender for the starting job...he just needs time
