The Texans select . . . EVERETTE BROWN, DE, FLORIDA STATE
It was between him and Cushing, but I feel that the need at DE is much greater than at SLB. Didn't expect Brown to last this long anyways so this was a no brainer for me.

Not a problem. FYI I swapped the Raiders and Jags picks since steroid PM'ed me and let me know he would have taken Rey with the #7 pick. So the Jags get help on the o-line with Jason Smith since Barnes their current LT gave up 7.5 sacks this season. They can move Barnes to RT or shift him inside.

I figured we would go Brown. We need a DE who can rush the passer and Brown fits that mold. I think some see him as a possible 3-4 OLB, but lets hope that we get more out of this Florida State pick.

I'd love it if the Texans came through with Brown. I think it would be awesome to see him bouncing around the line on passing downs, like the Mario expirement where he stood up to rush. I hope we stick with him and snatch him up to bookend Mario's all around game with a high-motor hellraiser.

I'm halfway on the Aaron Maybin bandwagon. sounds like he's adding some weight and could develop into a great pass rusher from the DE position.

With the 16th pick in the 2009 NFL draft…
The San Diego Chargers select… Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU This might be a bit of a reach, but with Igor Olshansky possibly leaving this becomes an area of need. I thought about both Mereno & Jerry with this pick, but the Chargers can take a RB later in this draft, & Jerry is more of a 4-3 DT then a 3-4. I tried trading back where I thought Jackson might still be available but I got no offers so I decided to go ahead and pick him here. |

My pick isn't up, but I am at the #19 and I will be accepting trade offers.
I have already made an offer to a team, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I have also already rejected one offer. If anyone else is interested, PM me. |

After watching the bowl game against Wisconsin I see him as a 4-3 DE. He was constantly running stunts inside where he was beating solid NFL calibur prospects. He also showed the burst off the edge. I just can't take seeing Mario make up 1/2 of our team's sacks anymore, adding another pass rusher would make us deadly.

I like it. There are still alot of good players on the board.
At 26, I may think about trading down. If anyone was thinking about trading up and grabbing one of these late first round picks, I am potentially interested. |

NYJ selects Brandon Pettigrew, TE.
<ESPN Producer: Queue music, roll clip> MKJ: A perfect fit for an up-and-down offense. Brandon Pettigrew is a solid offensive weapon, and a huge upgrade at an underperforming position on an underperforming offense. blah blah blah Seriously, I think its a good fit. My only regret is knowing that, had I not chosen Pettigrew, I am certain that Spec would not have chosen him. Spec, you're up. Rick |
