Texans drafting around the 28-30
Round 1: Tyler Eifert TE, Notre Dame Personally i think we move the ball pretty well on offence (vikes game not with standing). Our main problem is in the red zone. Eifert has the best hands out of any WR/TE. We play a lot of double TE sets. BPA and fills a small need. Round 2: Sylvester Williams DT, North Carolina Now some of you will be thinking how is williams going to fall this far. His ranked as the 5-7 best DT in the class. Out of the last 2 drafts only 5 DTs have been taken in the first 2 rounds. My guess one of sylvester or jesse williams will fall to the end of the 2nd. We should take either, however i like sylvester more as a prospect. He penetrates the pocket extremely well, he lacks a little strength to hold against double teams or push the pocket, but with JJ and AS beside him i dont think its going to be a massive problem. Plus once he gets into the NFL training will ramp up and he will find that strength. Round 3: Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State Harris is either finished or needs more time, for the moment he gets extra competition to light a fire under is a55. Slay offers get size something we dont have in our secondary. Badboy introduced me to this guy and i have been looking at him for a few days and i like what i see. Round 3 Comp Pick: Andrew Jackson ILB, Western Kentucky Great blizter, excellent quickness and LOVES contact. A few of the guys on this board really like him and thats why i started to watch and im impressed. Round 4: Xavier Nixon OT, Florida For me our backup OT are terrible, harris hasn't played well and gardner hasnt seen any action. Im happy with Newtons development but we need that swing tackle and also some to give competition. Nixon has all the physical attributes and more but lacks consistency, so his time as back up should help him out a lot. Similar prospect when newton was coming out. Round 5: D.J. Swearinger, S, South Carolina great open field tackler, isnt afraid to lay the big hit. Decent in coverage as well. I have always been a demps fan but his been letting me down lately. Quin could be gone in FA but i do think he stays. Keo is solely a special teamer. Swearinger will sit behind manning and quin and hopefully will develop is game further. Round 5 Comp pick: Omoregie Uzzi G, Georgia Tech Plenty of expiring contracts on the line this season. I like Jones, Brookes and smith but if we lose depth, these guys need some competition. Uzzi should fit our zone-blocking scheme well with his size and quickness Round 6: Ryan Allen P, Louisiana Tech Round 7: Braden Wilson FB, Kansas State Old school fullback...leech 2.0 Height: 6.4 Weight: 254lbs |

Like your players, but any mock that has us taking an offensive weapon early is not going to be my cup if tea at this point.
Would like the TE pick, but I feel he'd be wasted in this offense. I think Grahm is very good....and he doesn't get a ton of looks...I think Casey could be a match up nightmare for defense...but he seems to be a last resort option.... I'd prefer a lineman there or a defensive player...jmo. |

Don't want to have a big argument in your thread, but I'm just going to clarify. I think the player could probably be an upgrade, but o don't think it'd matter in this offense when we aren't fully utilizing the guys we already have. Give mr better o line or a defense that can keep giving the o the ball.

as i said i think our offence moves the ball pretty well, obviously could be better but with the experience that newton, brooks and jones are getting this year i see great improvement for next year. but what i cant see us improving is our red zone offence unless we bring someone in because its been pretty bad for a few years. and eifert i think is the best receiver we can get at this point in the draft along with maybe being BPA. |

Eifert is going to be better than OD but just don't see Texans replacing OD next season and Graham is too good to spend a high pick this position. 5th round or later? Yep. I don't see an OL dropping to us and Texans satisfied with WRs. Wade will stun me if he drafts a Nose in first. I think it will be an OLB as Barwin gone. If that (Barwin) happens, we will be in same spot we were last draft when we took Mercilus. Not sure there will be one of his worth there but Wade may thinks so. Anyways, enjoyed the read.

CBs will always be picked earlier like safeties always later just because of their value. on eifert see what i wrote above in response to Rey. OLB could be a real option if barwin goes but i dont think it will happen, whether right or wrong im not sure but i dont think the FO will give up on barwin |

i have a few days off so im thinking of going back and watching all games and specifically looking at how barwin played. Considering that kubiack says his been playing well but the rest of us dont quite see it...it should be interesting to go back and watch. |
