Schaub calls out Suh, wouldn't want him on Texans

When asked earlier Monday in an interview with SportsRadio 610 in Houston whether he would ever want Suh to be his teammate with the Texans, Schaub said, "No."

"You don't want a player like that. The stuff that he stands for and the type of player he is, that's not Houston Texan-worthy," Schaub said. "That's not what we're about as a football team, as individuals, collectively as a group, we're not that type of person."

They asked him if he'd like suh as a teammate and he gave his full answer.

Mark vandameer spends a lot of time with the team and he said schaub was really unhappy about what suh did to him and was going to give some negative indictment of suh no matter how the questioning went. This is coming from a guy that works at the texans facility and rides on the team plane with these guys.

I listen to Matt every Monday and he is the king of coach speak for the most part.

For him to say he doesn't want a guy as a teammate is pretty strong. For him to say that a guy is not "texans worthy" is even stronger.

Frankly I was surprised how much run this got nationally. It was even discussed on PTI and stuff later in the day on ESPN. I listen to 610 basically 8 hours a day while at work and I heard the interview live yesterday and didn't think twice. Of course he wouldn't want him on the team...the guy just friggin kicked his dangle! WTH was Schauby gonna say? "Oh yeah, I'd love to have him on the team cause you know, I'm into effed up German porn and he could make those fantasies come to life and kick me in the dangle everyday!"

I think Schaub should have stayed with the origional "NC" approach. Not that I disagree with him because I know what he says is true, but because the NFL is basically a small community and his remarks may come back to haunt him.

Suh is universally hated around the league and has been voted the most disliked player by his peers for 2 straight years.

That's not accurate. I listened to it live on my way to work. They asked him would he like Suh as a teammate and his initial reply was one word: "No."

Schaub only added all that other stuff when Vandermeer asked him to expound. Vandy couldn't let it go at a simple "No".

Well, Vandy realized he asked a close-ended question (a question that can have a Yes or No answer with no further details)....so in his error I think Vandy quickly recovered and asked him to explain why he said "No" to the question.

No harm in that. I think you're making more of it than what's there. That's my gig, so stop trying to copy me. I think we all wanted to hear Matt Schaub explain his feelings, even if it was a bit of a tangent question to begin with.

I personally liked hearing him say negative things about Suh. I mean, Suh is trying to straight up injure every QB he faces no matter what...so it's not like this awakened some sleeping giant in Suh or anything. Matt is making sure he's on record as being very anti-Suh.

He downplayed the two hits he received in the Broncos game. But with Suh, there's that Albert Haynesworth factor that I am sure just really irritates Schaub. So he got to vent a little, and that's fine. At least he vented now and not during the game, in the moment. Which, from the quotes I read, Matt said he intentionally moved on from that incident for the benefit of the team. Now that there's down time, I think it's more than OK for this to be discussed.

Direct. To the point. No embellishment necessary. That works perfectly for me.

And when you think about it and the kind of players Uncle Bob and his Texans have historically signed up, Schaub's answer was the obvious answer to that question. No way Suh fits in our locker room.

So you're right, it was a tangential question. What purpose did it serve other than to provide sound-bite fodder for ESPN, et. al.?
