Vince Young doesn't intend to allow the Tennessee Titans' decision to part ways to stunt his growth as an NFL QB.

The soon-to-be-available former Titans starter said in an interview with ESPN that he considers himself one of the NFL's premier QBs and that he expects to start somewhere next season.

"I'm going to go into the organization, the team, and compete. That's all I can do, and let them make their own decision after that," Young told ESPN.

"Definitely I am a starting quarterback, an elite quarterback in the NFL. I want to go ahead and start. But like it always is, the coaches have the last word."

Young laughed when asked if he could be a backup.

The Titans announced this month they would part ways with Young after the QB clashed for the final time with head coach Jeff Fisher.

Team owner Bud Adams reluctantly decided to end Young's tenure with the team and elected to bring back Fisher.

Young was the third overall pick in 2006. He earned a Pro Bowl berth in 2006 and again in 2009, but never seemed to win Fisher's trust.

He started just 20 games in his final three seasons.

I really have a hard time believing he will be a starter anywhere. Maybe if he gets on a team like the Vikings, and Tavaris Jackson breaks a leg he could start, but beyond that I just don't see it. Nobody is going to bring him in and give him the keys to an offense without some serious changes in the way he conducts himself.

VY leaving the Titans is a good thing for us Texans fans. The guy was undefeated against Houston and him leaving sets the Titans back greatly. Win Win situation for us.

Vince will have multiple teams trying to bring him in as a starter. Upwards of 4 or 5 teams will be in the mix. His best situation would be Minny obviously. All this talk here of him being finished is just crazy talk. Dude can play he just needs to grow up but he is still young and has been a successful starting NFL QB.

He reminds me (in general) of Ryan Leaf. Both QBs have a lot of raw physical talent, but their minds are their own worst enemies. Leaf never could get his head on straight and ended up being considered a bust. VY has a ways to go before that verdict is issued, but he certainly needs to grow up and get his mind right if he wants to avoid that verdict in the end.

Now that he's no longer a Titan, I've got nothing against the guy. I wish him all the best and it will be interesting to see if a new team is the key to him taking advantage of a second chance.

It's been stated before, but he is 100% his own worst enemy. Just listen to the interview he did and you can tell he has really learned nothing from what is happening. His people blame everything but him and I think he buys into it. I have a hard time believing he will ever learn.

Vince also needs to hit the gym too
He is carrying around too much weight and loses some of the athleticism he once showed because of it. I just don't know if anyone is willing to put Vince on notice about this stuff. Isn't a family member still serving as his agent?
