Is this the future of things to come or can the Texans change course & avoid what seems certain? How do you think KC fans feel about their team & how will they react @ home this coming Sunday? eek:

Surely the Chiefs have to be feeling pressure even at this early stage of the season. They were suppose to be a powerhouse team in the AFC and are 0-2.
I'll pick them over the Texans this weekend but only because they are the home team. |

I'm not concentrating so much with a win or a loss next game. I'm just looking for the previous errors being corrected next game.
If DD doesn't have one fumble, has a great day running and not be timid, but we still lose...I'll take it...for now. I have a little more patience with this team as they are still growing up and sometimes baby steps are required. That said, a friggin' win would be nice also. If we would have played sound fundemental football the last 2 games and still lost, I can live with that...someone has to lose the game...but what burns me (and I think others) is that we're losing because of what WE are doing wrong, not so much of what the other teams are doing right. I know we should give credit to the Chargers and the Lions for them outplaying us, but as a typical homer fan, I worry about my team and give insincere credit to other teams. |

The only real thing I give credit to the teams we lost to this year is the fact they made the plays they needed to with the football after we gave the ball to them.

0-16 if they don't start making better half time adjustments on defense and find away to get the ball to Johnson more on offense. Davis is killing the offense. I'm not saying he is bad. Even with his fumbles he is very valuable. However he is the release valve.David Carr goes to him 75% of the time. If the ball is checked down to Davis because of the defense so much, then the Texans need to make Johnson the release valve. Run shorter routes across the middle getting the defender caught up in the backers. Let Davis take his defenders down the field. As long as Davis is the focus of the offense the Texans will continue to lose. If Johnson gets more involved then Davis will still get his yards but with fewer mistakes. Johnson can carry this team Davis cannot.

With as much as the O/Cs have Carr throwing to D.D....you'd think he had no WRs.

You know one thing that surprised me yesterday was the pass rush the Lions were able to get on the O line. They had a couple of guys that were constant disruptions and causing Carr all kinds of trouble. He had to run a few times because the pocket collapsed and I think there was just a real good rush on him most of the game.

I didn't get to watch yesterday's game, but I watched last weeks game. I saw the highlights from last nights game on the news and heard Carr was sacked five times. I have been thinking about the last two weeks all day, and something is not right. For Carr to be hurried and sacked like he has against the CHARGERS and LIONS, something is wrong. And on the defensive side of the ball with the players we have, we should me making some stops and getting to the QB more. We should be 2-0 right now. I am starting to believe that the coaching is the problem. I am not saying our record is 100% fault of the coaches, but I am starting to think they are a big factor for our 0-2 record.

OK, two predominate complaints keep coming up in this thread and others: (1) the Texans are throwing too much to DD and (2) the Texans aren't trying down field enough. Hmmm, any validity?
Let's look at the number of receptions for some top tier RB's: Tomlinson 100 McAllister 69 Holmes 74 Green 50 Taylor 48 Not seeing where the Texans are wacky out of line here. Plus, DD is averaging 10.3 yards per reception. Last time I checked that will usually be a 1st down. I'll take 10 yard plays all day long. Now how about looking at the guys ahead of Carr on yardage so far this year and see about all that going down field: Testeverde 11 plays over 20 yards Bulger 7 Brady 11 Carr 7 over 20 and 1 over 40--plus the 40+ yd non-reception reception by AJ last weekend. Some other QB's: Pennington 7 over 20 and 3 over 40 Harrington 6 Hassellbeck 4 Favre 3 over 20 and 1 over 40 Green 4 over 20 and 1 over 40 McNair 1 Plummer 6 over 20 and 1 over 40 and Mr. Air Attack himself Manning 7 over 20 and 4 over 40 Sorry folks, just not seeing where the Texans are taking way fewer shots down field than other teams.

My thoughts: Wiegert went out early due to injury. Wand looked liked he was trying to push his guy out wide rather than pancake his butt. Seth is 6'7" 315+ and needs to quit being timid. Last 2 years Pitts got into his opponent most plays even though he's 4 inches shorter. I think the OLine is still becoming a cohesive unit. In turn that will make QB & RB more productive. What I do not recall seeing is Carr running to right behind Todd Wade & throwing back across to Johnson. |

The Kansas City offense will score at will against us. Our defense has been pathetic these first 2 games.

Eliminate the turnovers and find 3rd down defense we get to 2-2 after the raider game. Probably will go 1-3. My biggest concern right now is when the defense is going to step it up. Last year we gave up alot of yards but tended not to break at the end. This year were giving up yards and touchdowns.

Maybe this is the year that the Lions and Bears are good. Last year was last year. so far these guys teams are 3-1. I think that the Chiefs are pretty down right now and we have an excellent shot at winning this game, just keep the turnovers to a minimum and take advantage of the Cheifs shortcommings. AND FOR GODS SAKE WATCH THE GAMEPLANS OF THE PREVIOUS TEAMS!

I think it will be tough for the Texans this weekend. I think the Chiefs are better offensively and it's a wash defensively.
I'd have to go with the home team because I think they are really feeling enormous pressure there. They were picked by many to be Super Bowl contenders. |

Capers first year with the Panthers they were 0-3 to start the season but ended up 7-9. Perhaps a repeat is in store for us.

the remaining 13 games of which we would need to win 7 of include: Raiders win Vikings win Titans loss Jaguars win Broncos loss Colts loss Packers loss Titans @ Reliant win Jets loss Colts @ Reliant win Bears win Jaguars loss Browns win. really hope your right, 0 turnovers, steller special teams play, maturation of defense and opening up the offense a little more and it just may be possible. |
