There are alot of threads about the lack of respect towards the Texans, so I wanted point out some positives we've recieved.
I was watchin Sportscenter yesterday, and Mark Schlerith (sp) chose the Texans as on of his three teams in position for a breakout season. Right after that Mark Clayton chose David Carr as one of his three players in position for a breakout season. Earlier today I was watching a football show on FoxSports Southwest, (Totally Football I think it was called) and the guy there also chose David Carr as his player ready for a big season. Sorry I can't provide any links or anything, I just saw this stuff on TV. I think alot of media people are taking notice that the TExans have a chance to really compete this year. I think we might even be taking Jacksonville's place as the popular pick for up-and-coming team this season |

A few weeks ago Sean Salisbury picked Carr out of all the young guns as the QB he would want to run a team. He also picks the Texans as his surprise team in the AFC possibly pushing towards a playoff spot.

You win some. You lose some.

Well whatever anyone has said up until this point is now mute. The time has come to show people what we are really about. We are now 3 days away from showing the world what we already know. The Texans Rule!!!!

I don't pay much attention to any supposed "lack of respect" from the media outlets (be they print, broadcast, or online) because I think for the most part they've been pretty fair. What have we been in our first two years? 4-12 and 5-11 is what we've been.
We've let a bunch of 4th quarter leads get away from us. We've set the single season sack record while having our young quarterback pummeled half to death. We've spent our first expansion draft pick on a LT who never played a down for us. We've set an improbable record for the least number of yards produced in a victory. We've lost the only game in 2002 we were favored to win to the lowly Bengals no less. Now, before you guys get out the rope and start looking for a tree understand that we've done a lot of good things to build on and nobody expected an expansion team to light up the league in it's first two seasons. I know that. You know that. We've watched them closer than any of the media mouthpieces who give out this "respect". They're watching the teams that are winning. They're watching the teams that are going to the playoffs. They're interested in the teams that have record setting players, coaches who've won Super Bowls, and stuff like that. Half the reason that every year some team comes out of nowhere to grab their attention is that teams can rise quickly in this era. The other half of the reason this happens is that they're ignoring a large chunk of the sub .500 clubs every year. So having said that I don't care about their respect. It's only going to come when we win and we're going to win so it'll be there. It won't be worth much then to me but it'll be there. We break .500 and the respect will come. Those are the rules under which this "respect" is given out. Until we deliver we don't get any.

It's funny because we bash all the writers for not showing the Texans respect. Then when the Texans get good, and all the writers are on the bandwagon, we will still bash them for being bandwagon jumpers and not paying attention to us before. It's great being a fan.

The NFL has always been slower to merit respect. If someone has 1 big year, they don't always make a probowl... like LT.
unfortuneately with the way teams get better so quickly.... Didn't cleveland make the playoffs their 3rd year? |

Frankly I'm impressed that the Texans get as much attention as they do nationwide.
