Default AJ Injured

Looking at the ice pack on AJ's leg, it was positioned beneath the right knee, making me think that this is NOT a knee injury. It is more likely a bone bruise of the tibia (shin bone).

However, if this is the case, the most common associated injury with a tibial bone bruise is an ACL tear. I am sure that AJ will undergo an MRI tomorrow to rule in these potential injuries or rule them out.

It did seem that he was rubbing the upper outer portion of the shin bone, could be sir. Guess we'll see. I'm pretty disappointed that Kubes didn't pull him out of the game whe he was noticably hobbling around the field. This ain't the playoffs, live to fight another day AJ.

Is this good or bad? Or is it bad any way you look at it?

As long as it's not a PCL injury which he suffered in 2007 and missed quite a few games we should be alright. Didn't look anything at all, at least as bad, as the one I remember against the Panthers back in 2007 so I'm hoping for the best. Seemed like the Ravens player just fell on top of it as he was on the ground.

A bone bruise as I've mentioned in other threads can be vary with severity........they are typically very painful, and can also be associated with a stress fracture.

Here is what I posted with Wade Smith's "bone bruise"......which I guarantee you he is still being affected by. The Smith post will follow the same potential course as AJ, if this is what he has.

Thanks for trying to put us at ease!

It'll be great to hear the MRI result come back a negative tomorrow.

AJ took a knee to his shin on a short pass. I don't remember the quarter, but they showed it on replay and it looks like it should be a bruise.

Could players having to wear knee pads this year lessened the chance of a more severe injury?

NFL knee pads basically cover the knee cap (and only a couple inches above and below) and help to buffer direct trauma to the knee cap and theoretically lessening the incidence and severity of bone bruises of the knee cap itself and limiting impact injuries to structures behind it, including knee joint structures. They offer no protection to most of the shin areas.

Soccer players have for years understood the debility that bone bruises of the shin can produce, and accordingly have worn shin pads specifically to minimize this injury.

the funny thing about knee pads and the like is half of the skill position players don't wear any of them.
