How about instead of being the conservative team that we are, how about we go out there and just play some good old smashmouth football. Let Dominick Davis pound it in there like a runaway train until they have to focus on the line of scrimmage, and just at that point unleash a frightening airal attack by hitting not just Andre, but also Gaffney, Bradford, Armstrong, and last but not least, Miller. Sounds like poetry right, oh well......just some wishful thinking.
Maybe that's possible against Chicago, but I doubt it will be that great. DD is not pounding "it in there like a runaway train" against zone pass coverages. He's not going to do much of anything against man coverage. Other teams are and will probably continue to use zone pass coverages against us and DD will (maybe) continue to rush for 100 or more yds. per game. They don't care. Well, the teams with a good offense don't. DD is looking good, when he should be looking incredible. Why we can't EVER pass against zone coverages is mostly because our line can't even protect car against a 4 man rush. We just get beat at the line on both sides of the ball and skills players cannot make up for that. Not enough, anyway.
Our next 3 opponents will be easier than the way things have been the last 6 or 7 weeks, for the most part. We will look better, but probably not enough to really prove anything. I just hope we win 2 out of 3, because I'm not counting on it.
