I'm really torn on Nix III. Great talent, Texans WILL have a shot @ him but is he worth top 10 consideration? Then in 2nd do you go with another DT/DE who could split reps & be that rotational guy we thought Crick & McClain would become, offering Mitchell a fair but discounted home town contract?
I'm willing to go with best player on the board who fills Texan DL needs, just not sold on this draft class repeating how Carolina dealt with their own issues last season.
Agree about Quin. It really made no sense at all to let him go. Signing Reed after the fact just leads one to ponder FO ineptitude. Just horrible decision making right there. Also, like you alluded to in another thread, letting Chris Jones walk was a horrible mistake. Waiving him to stash on the practice squad, but keeping healthy scratch guys like Montgomery on the active roster, again reeks of FO/coaching ineptitude. I'm still pissed about letting Jones go.
As for Nix. I really, really like him. The question is, does he make more of an impact for us than a guy like Barr, Mack, or Van Noy? Mercilus has played pretty well this year. Reed has not. Putting a top-flight pass rusher on the other side could make all the difference. Then again, having a guy in the middle that demands double teams could free up everything.
