In any event, you're only looking at 1 sport....Been over to Minute Maid lately? Yeah, i worked there for a few months & the attendance at those games was pathetic after the 1st month...people were coming out to see stars from the opposing teams moreso than they were coming to see their home town team.
Right now, the hottest ticket in town is to Rockets games....I think we all know why. That's funny considering there was just a story last year or the year before i believe about how fan attendance at rockets games was down something like 60% from the average fan attendance across the NBA..or something to that effect...i remember Charlie P talking about it on the ride home. I suspect that won't be the case this year with all the hype surrounding the Howard acquistion.
Like i said...as bandwagon as it gets in this town.
This is not always a measurement of bandwagon-ness because there are many die-hard rocket fans that choose not to go to games b/c it is too expensive, loud and inconvenient as many games are during the work week and end late at nite- affecting your work etc the next day when your dead tired. It is much easier to watch these games at home on your 70" flat panel HD TV, while eating your dinner -in the comfort of your home. Players like DH and the Beard make these fans spring for the cash to see a few more games in person, but again that is not necessarily a measurement of bandwagon-ness.
