If he needed a boot AFTER the game by the next day....... after which he had the necessary evaluation, he certainly needed it immediately AFTER the injury. The commonly used phrase around here, "We're going to play it 'smart' with him" begs for a definition of "smart.
Maybe Kubiak needs to start staying at a Holiday Inn Express cuz he's very rarely smart with these decisions. Some injuries you can gut out, others you can't.
Maybe Brown didn't mention the toe on the sideline because he wanted to get back in the game or the ankle injury was painful and general enough that it masked the specific pain to the toe?
Either way, one would expect the medical staff for a professional sports team to be able to diagnose injuries well enough to protect a player from himself.
