He made the Pro Bowl once with the Chiefs, and six times with the Oilers (4 times as first teamer, and twice as second teamer.)
He's an Oiler Pro Bowler and HOF.
The Chiefs got squat for not bringing him back, whatever the reason was.
Culp was not released by the Chiefs.......he decided to sign with the new World Football League. From there, he like many others that went to that league were almost treated like traitors and scabs since they tried to sign and play for both leagues. So when the new league dissolved, the Chiefs who still carried rights to him, traded him to the Oilers for John Matuszack (DE-DT 6-8 272 lbs 1st pick of the 1973 NFL Draft)who also left the Oilers when he wasn't allowed to play for the WFL. (FYI for the HOUSTON TEXANS
) and the NFL. Court injunctions disallowed these dual league playings.
