Smith is on his last year, so you would have to extend him to get any cap relief. His cap hit will be
$9.8 mil in 2013, and that just seems too much for what Smith provides. It would cost $2.5 mil in dead money to cut Smith, a total savings of $7.3 mil. Just think that that money could be better spent. I'm down on some of these defensive players who I think should have had better seasons playing next to a human dynamo like JJ Watt.
