Coming out of a small school like Abilene Christian, it's fair to say that he needs some time to develop.
I think that because Manning has some speed, they wanted to try to see if he can handle the CB position.
And the nickel would be a good starting point for a young player.
Also due to his speed and running skills, they wanted him to lighten the load for Hester in the KR department.
