After losing 41-28 to the New England Patriots, the Texans left Gillette Stadium with some regrets and some feelings of progress. They left knowing things would be different next year, though not yet sure in what way.

“Last year and this year for some reason, players that we’ve lost have been key players,” Texans owner Bob McNair said. “It’s not our backup players; it’s some of our top players. As we develop more depth, when those things happen it’ll hurt us less and less. In this particular case, we got hit at one position with a lot of injuries. It made it very difficult. We’ll work on adding more depth and playing better.”

McNair referenced the Texans’ lack of depth at linebacker due to injury. In addition to Cushing, Tim Dobbins and Darryl Sharpton also are on injured reserve.

“We had no depth at linebacker,” McNair said. “We were up against one of the best quarterbacks in the league (in Tom Brady), and he knew that we were thin there. They just wore our linebackers out. Our linebackers played well; we just didn’t have the manpower. Brian Cushing’s in there, it’s a different story. We just need a little more depth. Keep working hard, and we’ll get there.”

McNair said despite the Texans’ tight salary-cap situation, they will be able to add depth through the draft and non-premium free agents.

Team needs people in charge of it that can properly plan for scheduled losses and mitigate depth problems. All off-season we kept wondering WTF they were thinking. Everyone keeps pointing out the cap problems. Well, players don't create cap problems. People who draft contracts and sign checks create cap problems, and therefore depth problems.

Sucks that the Texans were the only team in the playoffs with depth issues and cap casualties...oh wait... :rake:

I agree with Bob.

But we also had holes where Dreessen & Winston once were.

Wait...McNair says we had a weakness and the Patriots took advantage of that???

I mean, gosh, you mean to tell me that there are teams who actually find weaknesses in opponents and then really go after that weakness with zeal and fervor?

I am stunned.

Is that even LEGAL? I think Bob should speak to the League about this. That doesn't sound very fair or even (gasp!) NICE for them to do that. A bunch of *******s to relentlessly pound upon the worst part of our defense like they did.

McNair proving, once again, that if this were the Revolutionary War....his team would be the red coats bitching about how the savage colonists don't fight "fair." That the colonists won't even line up and trade musket rounds back and forth.

Yeah, Bob. Depth hurt us. But other things FINISHED THE JOB OFF.
