2013 mock

1. WR Terrance Williams Baylor 6'2" 205 4.48 1600 yds 18.5 avg with one game remaining. I keep trying to mock someone else here especially as I think WRs are set. Texans had 6 with Holliday & Martin can take that spot (better receiver). Williams is just good. BPA.

2. NT Luis Nix Notre Dame 6'3" 325 Cody should be gone but even if he is re-signed with his injury history, we need to strengthen this spot. Only dire need.

3 a. OLB Quanteras Smith Western Kentucky 6'5" 248 should be recovered from recent ACL 12.5 sacks.

3 b. ILB Andrew Jackson Western Kentucky 6'1" 262 105 tackles reminds me of Dont'a Hightower and he can go side to side and into coverage.

4. OT/OG Ricky Wagner Wisconsin 6'6" 318 moved to LT 2012 but should be RT. Knee injury did not end his season but his lateral movement must improved. Replaces either Harris or Gardner.

5 a. TE Michael Williams Alabama 6'5" 272 good blocker soft hands

5 b. RB Cierre Woods Notre Dame 6'1" 215 102/720 7.1 (plays USC tonight)
Wants out of ND as has been reported with Nix.

6 a. DE Kapron Lewis-Moore Notre Dame 6'4" 304

6 b. CB/FS Darrius Slay Mississippi State 6'1" 190 5 INTs (does not include tonight) can play man coverage.

7. SS Ray Armstrong 6'4" 228 released for interacting with boosters. Others have said he could be a hybrid LB similar to some of Quin's plays.

I noticed a half of mock draft prospects from Notre Dame and Western Kentucky. Nice job though. If we ended up drafting 3 Notre Dame prospects in 2013 as you mentioned, we can call our team as Fighting Texans?

I'm warming up to Terrance Williams. Good size/speed combo. More polished than I thought. Would upgrade WR position, help stretch defenses out & add some Andre Johnson insurance.

JMO:

1. Williams, I like the pick. He definetely improves our WR corp. and spreads the defense. Good pick.
2. Nix, I really like the player but I don't think he's available at the end of the 2nd round. Someone is
going to fall in love with his measurables at the Combine. I think if you want him you'll have to take him in the 1st.
3. Smith, I don't know anything about him since I haven't looked at OLB's, don't see it as a need, but I like his size and production. How recent is the ACL injury?
3b. Jackson, good thumper to play the run in the middle of our front 7 next to Cushing. Good pick.
4. Wagner, I know he's currently listed as a 4th round pick but I think he goes earlier and we'd have to take him in the 3rd if we want him, love the player.
5. Williams, another good pick that offers great size, blocking, and depth at TE. Good pick.
5b. Woods, another guy I know nothing about since I haven't checked out RB's either.
6. Moore, not familiar with him either.
6b. Slay, good pick if still available. We'll need CB depth.
7. Armstrong, we could probably get him as an UDFA but in the 7th it's a good pick, put him on the practice squad and move him to ILB. He's got the speed and athleticism that you take a chance on late. Good pick.

Re: 2013 mock

This would be a very good draft if it turned out this way.

1. I'm not sold on the Texans taking a WR in the 1st and much could hinge on how good or bad Lestar does the last 5 games. Having said that, I wouldn't mind getting Williams.
2. NT is a definite need IMO. I thought we needed one the last draft. Cody ain't getting no younger or healthier.
3. Not sure about an OLB here. I guess, like WR, a lot depends on if Barwin stays or goes. As for Jackson, this is a player I really hope we get. I haven't seen him play, but from what I read, he's a beast! He's the kind of MLB we need that plays with an attitude and wants to be like Ray Lewis. Just hope he's around this late.
4. OT would be good here because we need someone to be the "swing tackle." Harris may come back but I don't think Butler will.
5. TE is another position the Texans are thin at IMO. Williams from Alabama could be a good pick up here, but I would like for them to get a TE sooner. Maybe in the 2nd or 3rd. Not sure about this RB. Don't know anything about him or ND's offense. I only hear about their D.
6 & 7. Not sure about the players here but the positions sound about right.

Good job overall.

1) Like BL, I am slowly warming to T. Williams. He has all the measurables, and puts up some nice stats. However, when I actually watch Baylor play, he does not stand out to me in terms of me thinking "NFL receiver". I cant explain it, and therefore it must not be that big of a deal. Good pick, though I am starting to wonder about WR being that much of a need. AJ has been dominant, and his current style of play wont rapidly diminish with age. He should be a great receiver for at least 3 more years.

2) I love Nix, but if the dude declares he is going in the 1st. I cant see him going in the second anymore. My only concern is his demeanor and attitude. I notice he has a tendency to take some penalties at times, and seems to be a bit of a hot-head. I worry about him becoming a Suh or Haynesworth in this respect.

3) Q Smith... a torn ACL is going to kill his stock. Sure he MIGHT recover by the time the season starts, but he wont be able to participate in the Combine or Pro days. He will drop come draft day.

3) Sign me up for Jackson.

4) Not sold on Wagner. Before the season I really liked him, but he was not impressive this year. Like you said, he needs to show better movement, and I just dont think he has it in him. I think he will be a good RT in the pros, but he just does not fit the system.

5) Blocking TE, I like it. He has some soft hands too, keep the D honest.

5) I am a huge fan of Woods. I had him on a mock I did not post a couple weeks ago, I think he can be a great number 2 in the NFL. Does this mean Tate is gone?

6) KLM is a good player, fits in well. Nice pick.

6) You are choosing the wrong Miss. State DB! I think Slay is benefiting from Banks and Broomfield, but this late in the draft you really cant go wrong if you have a good feeling about a player. Slay's size does mean he has a higher upside than my preferred Broomfield, but I dont think he measures up skill wise.

7) Cant go wrong here. 7th rounders likely dont make the team, he could be a good project for the PS.

I like the mock, but I think you could invest more in the OL.

Nope just best player at each round for position I wanted. Only college team I root for is University of Texas. thanks for compliment.

Yeah, he just keeps getting better. Good technique sidelines & separation speed. My concerns are Nix moving into first despite few mocking him Remember Poe?

I was never on the Poe bandwagon but Nix is the real deal. He is polished enough already to start for an NFL team, big difference, only question is will he declare early?

Definitely think you could be correct on Nix in first but I am hoping GMs look at Poe's inability to step up after KC spent a high first on him & push Nix down. Nix like Poe will be 22 coming into NFl offering time to work with him. Wished I had a better grasp on Cody's back issues.

Smith:they say sacks come in bunches and they do for this guy; 5, 3.5 & 3 in only three games. He had ACL injury against Louisiana-Lafaytte mid November. He also has 18.5 tackles for loss. He had a very good game against Alabama. His per game avg is second in nation @ 1.85 and leads nation sacks per game @1.25. If he can avoid ballooning his weight in recovery, he can only get better especially in Wade's scheme and coaching. Injury may drop him but I would not allow too many rounds to go by without calling his name. Texans is a perfect team for him with Reed and Mercy ahead of him.

Wagner: may not be there at our pick but is solid fourth & I do not see him moving up. He does not have skill set especially laterals to play LT.

Cierre Woods is a Tate type back with size and speed. He had a violation of "team rules" prior to season & was suspended for 2 games as was a DE. He had 1100 yds 2011 but Riddick took his starter role this season and never lost it. Some say Woods will use his red shirt final season in return to ND but imo too many players want out of ND. He also tweeted he had played his last home game. http://www.crescent-news.com/ap%20sp...rb-cierre-wood

Against USC 18/118 6.6avg 2TDs

He will probably go much higher but for now....

Moore: Wolfe you should have watched the Irish this season.
