Texans Players Pro Bowl Totals with 5 weeks of Voting left

With five weeks of Pro Bowl voting remaining, 13 Texans players rank in the top five in the AFC in fan voting at their respective positions.

Running back Arian Foster leads the way with 333,396 votes. That ranks third overall among all NFL players, trailing only Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (376,981 votes) and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (345,036 votes). Foster, who has been to back-to-back Pro Bowls, ranks third in the NFL with 872 rushing yards and leads the league witih 12 total touchdowns.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has 202,904 votes, more than any other NFL defensive player. Next-best is Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, who has 156,688 votes. Watt leads the NFL with 10.5 sacks and has a team-leading 10 passes defensed through nine games.

According to ESPN.com, 11 other Texans are in the top five at their respective positions.

Matt Schaub ranks fourth among AFC quarterbacks, a position where three players make the Pro Bowl roster. James Casey ranks second at fullback behind former Texan Vonta Leach, with only one roster spot up for grabs.

At tight end, where the top two vote-getters make the Pro Bowl, Owen Daniels ranks second behind New England’s Rob Gronkowski.

At tackle, where the top three make the Pro Bowl, Texans left tackle Duane Brown ranks fourth.

At guard, where the top three make it, Texans right guard Antoine Caldwell ranks third and left guard Wade Smith ranks fourth.

At center, where the top two make it, 2011 Pro Bowler Chris Myers ranks fifth.

At cornerback, where the top three make it, 2011 Pro Bowler Johnathan Joseph ranks fourth. Kareem Jackson, who’s tied for the AFC lead with four interceptions, ranks fifth.

At strong safety, which has two Pro Bowl roster spots per conference, Glover Quin ranks fifth. Linebacker Bryan Braman ranks second in the “special teamer” category, in which one player makes it each year.

Fan voting comprises one-third of the final tally along with voting from players and coaches. Voting will continue online through Monday, Dec. 17. LINK

This is just...wow. Brown should be starting, Caldwell shouldn't have a shot, Smith probably shouldn't have a shot and Myers should be either a starter or the second.

Fan voting sucks in my opinion. It counts as 1/3rd of the vote but if it were up to me it would be more like 1/4th or 1/5th. With fans it's about voting for their own team and voting for names they recognize. Troy Polamalu is in front according to the fans and he's played in what? 2 games? 3?

I can't imagine 3 CBs ranked higher than both Kareem & Jjo.... not seeing it.

I'm sorry, did I read that Caldwell is ahead of Smith at guard? :strangle:

I'm a little surprised that Watt isn't closer to Arian in vote totals. That guy has been on a full-on media tour this year.

Foster has the advantage of being popular among fantasy football enthusiasts.

For PB voting for Texans players, use the above link because for each position the Texans player is nominated he appears at the top of that page, i.e., you don't have to search thru the entire page to find the Texans player to vote for.
This is a big deal for most of these guys, so whether or not we make it to the SB I think they value being selected to the all-star game.

Just be glad Yao Ming is not on the ballot.

Wow, Duane Brown is the best LT in the game. He damned well better make the pro-bowl.

Re: Texans Players Pro Bowl Totals with 5 weeks of Voting left

Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, left tackle Duane Brown and quarterback Matt Schaub are among those who would not be in the Pro Bowl if fan voting ended today and was the sole basis for selection
At guard, where the top three make it, Texans right guard Antoine Caldwell ranks third and left guard Wade Smith fourth. At center, where the top two make it, 2011 Pro Bowler Chris Myers ranks fifth.

Of Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub, Duane Brown, Wade Smith, Chris Myers, & Antoine Caldwell, Caldwell is the only one in that group who's not presently a starter and he's also the only one of the group who goes to the PB according to the Texans Nick Scurfield. Now explain that one to me ?
