BL Final 2012 Texan Mock
1. Jared Crick, DE/NT, Nebraska, 6042 279
For the record I think the Texans will trade down. Like keeping Schaub clean so do interior linemen keep rush Linebackers clean. Depth, rotation, versatility. High effort/motor team player, mature, clean on & off the field. First round talent coming off a torn pectoral tear which limited Senior season impacting his draft grade. Always around the ball, disruptive, causing QB hurries, fumbles, batting passes down/break-ups.

2. Bobby Massie, OT, Mississippi, 6061 316
Fluid, athletic big with light feet ability to develop into premium LT, ready to compete for starting RT position now. Everything you look for physically, has 35" arms, natural knee bender. Plays with attitude, aggressiveness.

3. Brain Quick, WR, Appalachian State, 6034 220
Premium body height, long arms 34" good size hands 9 3/4" with 34" vertical. Production improved every year becoming #1 target. Supreme special teams player, game changing blocks in key situations. Vertical deep threat to spread defenses, take pressure off Andre.

4. Ryan Broyles, WR/returner, Oklahoma, 5101 192
Could be the top player on the Texans board if available this late. Runs the entire route tree, possession slot WR with premium return skills. Better football speed than track speed, gets in & out of breaks on a dime. Has great feel for the game & gives his QB another option will continue to work until after the whistle blows.

4. Kyle Wilber, ILB/OLB, Wake Forrest, 6036 249
Can kick inside or out giving Texans versatility of player who can cover & back fill. Excellent length among group. Possess both arm length to stack & shed blocks, strong 25 bp, edge speed & productive. Great value here to cover departed DeMeco Ryans.

5. Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech, 5100 178
Never thought a player like Jayron would be here this late but recent events

Multiple sources told FOXSports.com that Hosley wrote a letter to NFL teams apologizing for the failed test.
changed my mind. Must convince NFL teams it won't happen again, if he can he would bring undeniable talent to Texan secondary already looking stacked.

6. Quentin Saulsberry, C/OG, Mississippi State, 6023 304
ZBS OL prospect. Throw him into camp & let him compete & find a roster spot giving Texans much needed depth & special teams player. A plus lead blocker in running game as well which could be used in goal line situations out of the backfield, thus eliminating need to select a FB in this draft.

7. Randy Bullock, K, Texas A&M, 5092 205
Draft the best available kicker & lets move on from the days of Rackers & Brown. Give Texans a premium, mature young man to become the leading kicker & franchise future record holder. Excellent accuracy of Rackers already close in with more leg development outside of fifty to add a weapon back into special teams.

Re: BL Final 2012 Texan Mock
I like Hosleys ball skills and toughness.

I just worry about him getting picked on by NFL wide receivers and QB's. I think he'll stuggle in his first year. Not sure how he'd bounce back from that.

Not really a Crick in the first round fan. I like Crick, but I think we can do better with that pick if we stay there.

Also, I'm not sure Bullock lasts until the 7th round.

I'm a big Chad Diehl fan and I'd really like to bring him in, but the Texans may feel they can get him or another bruising FB via FA.

Re: BL Final 2012 Texan Mock
No way Hosley falls that far. He may fall because of the drug test, but not to the 5th round. Maybe the 3rd. He's one of the top 3 man cover CB's in this draft.

Re: BL Final 2012 Texan Mock
Rick Smith is very clear about taking BPA people are trying to hard addressing need over value. I'm thinking what Texans draft board looks like. Crick pre-injury would rank as a top 20 prospect. I'll trust Wade on this one, sorry guys for delivering less than expected.

I'm thinking another CB is a must.

Re: BL Final 2012 Texan Mock
It's never easy facing the music but so it is. At least two of my players are now Texans (Crick & Bullock) as yet to find another mock that can say as much.

Interesting points:

Texans did trade down.

Texans did select an offensive lineman who could flip & play both RG or RT (Miller).

Texans used two middle round picks on WR position as the draft dealt value.

Texans drafted a kicker, who could become a franchise bell cow for years to come.

thank you & Good Night :goodnight
