Moving up to 18
If Michael Floyd fell down to the Chargers pick (18) what would you give to move up to select him right in front of the Bears? Even less likely would be DeCastro falling to 18, but I doubt the Chargers would pass on a chance to take him if he did.
I'd be willing to part with our 1st and 3rd pick this year. I've been on record saying there are tons of players the Texans could select between rounds 2 and 3 this Draft, and would be in major favor of getting as many picks as I could in that time frame, including trading out of the first and up from the 4th, but this is the only scenario I could think of for moving up in the first. Michael Floyd would put our offense over the top ... if we bring back Myers, and either find an effective backup plan for Brisiel or bring him back. |
Re: Moving up to 18
Definitely willing to give up a 3rd this year, or a 2nd next year to do that. But they could give up the 2nd and move up higher than 18.

Re: Moving up to 18
If I'm moving up from #26 to #18 it's going to be for something that I absolutely can't get at #26 and this is a very deep draft for WR's. I like Floyd better than Blackmon, but I'd have a hard time trading up for him when I'd be happy taking Stephen Hill at #26. I don't think there's anyone in this draft that I'd trade up for other than Morris Claiborne-CB but there's no way he falls out of the top 10.

Re: Moving up to 18
I thought about that as well, the most obvious answer is to avoid the confusion of a Floyd and Floyd receiving backfield, .... and y'know .... extra picks. They actually need alot of help in alot of areas.
WR, OG, OT, OLB, ILB, S, and CB. They really really need an OLB more than a WR though. Their pass rush has been non existent for some time now |
Re: Moving up to 18
I think Floyd will go top 14. I don't see us drafting a WR in the first. But to answer your question, yes I would trade up if he fell. I just think we will have to trade way up for Floyd.

Re: Moving up to 18
Anything earlier than 16 would probably cost too much.
16 Jets: Probably want more value to jump back 10 spots 17 Bengals: Already have 2 firsts, lots a needs, don't see them trading 18 Chargers: Lots of needs, can still pick up a valuable player at 26 not much of a trade back to them 19 Bears: They'd take Floyd before we could call them. If Floyd makes it past the Cardinals and Jets I can honestly see him falling to the Bears. |
Re: Moving up to 18
If Bears took Floyd @ 19 what teams between them & Texans would draft Wright? Could he slide to 26?

Re: Moving up to 18
Maybe Cleveland

So you see Wright maybe @#26? I'd take him over Hill.

Blackmon or Floyd will start from day one .... I dont believe those behind them in the pecking order will, they may be the #3 guy's on the teams they go to. Floyd has alot of questionmarks off the field .... but on the field he's a beast. I'd probably give up a 3rd to move up ....and I'd think about a 2nd. |
Re: Moving up to 18
Floyd has a checkered past IMO. I wouldnt trade anything for him. Hell, I'd think twice about taking him at 26.

Re: Moving up to 18
If all I had to do was swap a 3rd to move up for Floyd? A third for what might be the piece on this offense that takes them to elite? No Question I'd do it.

Re: Moving up to 18
floyd is the best WR in this draft. if it weren't for his off-field issues he would be a top 7 pick. He'll end up being the best WR from this draft and a pro bowler for many years.
I would trade my 3 and 5th easily for this guy with out a blink of an eye lid |
Re: Moving up to 18
I would give up a 1st and 4th this yr and a 2nd next yr.
Reason: Floyd is a great WR and great WR's dont come cheap. |
