2012 Draft Compensatory Pick Projections
(I think this is where this belongs, but move it if need be)
Nice rundown of this guy's predictions for comp picks. Even explains why some teams don't get any. Not official, but an interesting read. Of course, there are no Houston picks projected... :) Oakland may wind up with 3 draft picks after all too, so they will have a reason to show up in NY in April. Quote:

I'd be suprised if Cinci doesn't get a pick for JJo

Many of our players were signed by other teams.
Anybody keeping track to see if they are still on the roster and qualifying? Pollard, Diles, Bentley, Okoye, Mark Anderson, David Anderson, Adibi, Okam, Molden. |

Mark Anderson may have been signed to a decent deal, and I know he's still playing for the Pats. But the Texans also signed Vickers, so that should cancel out. It's doubtful that we get any comp picks. |

Forget about Okam; he was old news. The Pats claimed Molden; he's a vet. Does he qualify? |

Okam was waived, not a free agent. Molden was waived, not a free agent. |

John McClain initially reported that we got a 7th round comp pick for losing Dunta, but he was, as usual, incorrect. We did not receive anything for Dunta because we signed Wade Smith and Neil Rackers. Both qualifying FA's, while losing only 1, so there cannot be any comp picks awarded in that case. It doesn't matter if you lost a 3rd round pick graded player, if you signed more qualifying FA's (even if they are all 7th's) you simply get nothing. If we had signed just Wade Smith, we may have been in line to garner a net comp pick worth a 5-7th because the incoming player was a lesser tier FA than the outgoing one. But that didn't happen. There are always 32 comp picks awarded each year, no more, no less. If there aren't enough qualifying comp picks for FA losses, then the extras are added at the end of the 7th round, after awarded 7th comp picks, and it goes in order of the first round. Since we picked 11th in the draft, and only 21 comp picks were awarded, we got one of the left over picks that come at the very end of the draft. We picked Mr. Irrelevant Cheta Ozowuago with it, who is no longer with the team. tl;dr We did not get anything for Dunta. |
