Hottoddie's 3 Scenarios Mock Drafts

Well, I guess it's time I took a stab at the Texan's draft. I've put together 3 mocks based upon 3 scenarios playing out in the draft. Hopefully, they don't look too stupid. Let me know what ya' think.

Mock Draft #1 - No trade downs.

1) Chris Wells (RB) - Surprised? We were the #3 offense, but #17 in points scored. Wells is the best RB available & gives us the power back we need.

2) Chris Baker (DT) - Baker is 6'2" 326lbs. & runs a 5.02 40 with a 35.5" vertical. I can't wait to see this guy line up next to Mario.

3) Phillip Hunt (DE) - This might be too early to take him, but he reminds me a lot of Dwight Freeney. A little guy with a non stop motor & a lot of heart.

4a) David Bruton (FS) - He's physical with a non stop motor. He's a great tackler, supports the run well & has very good instincts.

4b) Zack Follett (OLB) - A big hitter with a non stop motor & is a great tackler with good instincts. I would've considered Jason Williams here, but he's climbing up the board fast & should be gone by this pick.

5) Anthony Parker (C/G) - He's undersized, but is ideal for the ZBS. He can play both guard positions as well as center.

6) Johnny Knox (WR) - He's 6'0" with 4.34 speed & catches the ball with his hands & not his body. An incredible athlete.

7) Glover Quin (CB) - A big hitter & reliable tackler with great hands & supports the run well.

Mock Draft #2 - Trade down w/Philly for our 1st/2nd (#15 & #46) in exchange for their two 1st's (#21 & #28).

1a) Peria Jerry (DT) - He's not a big space eater, but he plays like one.

1b) Conner Barwin (DE/OLB/TE) - I'm so intrigued by this guy. He gives us a player that can be very effective at 3 different positions. He's got a non stop motor & could play OLB for us & DE on obvious passing downs without ever coming out of the game.

3) Rashad Jennings (RB) - Rashad gives us the power back we so desperately need to score in the Red Zone.

Mock Draft #3 - Trade down w/Philly for our 1st/2nd (#15 & #46) in exchange for their two 1st's (#21 & #28) & then w/New England (#21 for #34 & #58).

1) Max Unger (C/G) - Unger instantly upgrades our guard position.

2a) Ron Brace (DT) - Brace gives us the big space eater we need to contain the run & collapse the pocket.

2b) Lawrence Sidbury (DE) - Sidbury would be our pass rush specialist at first. He would allow us to shift Smith to tackle & bring him in at DE on obvious passing downs.

3) Rashad Jennings (RB) - Rashad gives us the power back we so desperately need to score in the Red Zone.

5) Daniel Holtzclaw (ILB) - Holtzclaw is an underrated ILB & would be a steal in the 5th.

6) Johnny Knox (WR) - He's 6'0" with 4.34 speed & catches the ball with his hands & not his body. An incredible athlete.

7) Glover Quin (CB) - A big hitter & reliable tackler with great hands & supports the run well.

i like the number 3 trade scenario the best but i don't like taking a o-lineman that early and i doubt it would happen considering how much Kubiak loves this line that Gibbs has made.

Barwin and Sidbury are the two fastest DE-OLB in the draft & would look great in Texans uniforms. IMHO

Barwin is a workout athlete, Sidbury is a raw developemental RDE. I would not spend a 2nd rd. pick on either unless I knew excatly how to develop & fit them into a specific scheme.

the Wells pick scares the hell out of me, like the Peria Jerry selection much better. find a more compelling way to trade down for Unger :texflag:

That's why coaches get paid.

If the coaches cant develop two of the most talented atheletes they should be fired.

Give me talent any day and I will let the chips fall where they may.

This is the way the Patriots, Steelers ,Giants do the draft and they have had great results. They find players that have talent and put them in situautions where they can suceed.

I disagree. Those teams find guys who fit well into what they want to do on both sides of the ball. Harrison, current defensive MVP, went undrafted.

I agree with Beerlover both Sidbury and Barwin are promising athletes but this team doesn't have a surefire record of developing defensive talent. Maybe that changes under Bush,Kollar and Gibbs. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

I also think some people think we are ok on the OL and I disagree. We lack depth at guard and center. Both Brisiel and Myers are ok to start but, I don't think either is beyond upgrading. Both were ok in between the 20's but, IMO were suspect inside the redzone. I know alot of guys are banging the Ugner pick and I'm on board but if i am picking a guy at 21 to improve the line head and shoulders above Alex Mack is that guy.

Me too BL....every one is seeing Jamal Lewis....Earl ....and I'm seeing
Ahman Green II/Chris Brown . He runs up right with a high pad level, he isn't four four untill he steps on the OSU feild turf.....the guy has danger will robinson written all over him. I take the gamble on Sidbury. Couldn't be any more of a long shot than Babins. Couldn't be any more raw than Dilles was.

Golden Mack is my favorite interior OL in this draft.

If we got Mack & A. Brown I think our red zone problems would be solved.
