Foley and Texans Prevent 3-4 Defense
The January edition of the ESPN magazine has a brief story on Foley.
I quote the following from this article:
"When he (Foley) signed with Houston as a free agent in 2003, Foley thought that he'd thrive in the Texans' 3-4. But Dom Capers' emphasis on the zone blitz meant Foley was stuck in coverage as often as he rushed the passer. Now, since signing as an FA in San Diego last March, Foley has 10 sacks and is finally thriving in an attacking 3-4D. Says Charges GM A J Smith: 'He causes havoc all the time' "
I brought this up in many other threads before and I believe that statement says alot about our defense and why we are so much different stat wise from the other 3-4 teams out there and different in our INTs.
we run a different kind of 3-4.. that isnt a bad thing :). Heck.. in the AFC south.. with the Colts and Titans.. its probably a really good thing that we focus more on coverage.
Given a little more time.. I think this could end up being a very good, and very unique defense.
