"Has Wilson claimed young QB crown?"

Quote:

Russell Wilson has continued to soar while Andrew Luck has scuffled lately.
Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson alternated turns in the NFL's young quarterback spotlight last season. Griffin set the rookie record for passer rating. Kaepernick set playoff records on his way to the Super Bowl. Luck transformed a 2-14 team into an 11-5 contender. Wilson tied the rookie record for touchdown passes.

Their paths have diverged some lately. Griffin, Kaepernick and Luck have combined for a 2-7 record, 78.9 passer rating and 33.8 Total QBR score over the past three weeks. The figures are quite different for Wilson in his past three games. His Seattle Seahawks are 3-0. His passer rating (123.2) and QBR score (88.6) have surged in those games.

"I think it is unfair to these guys almost to keep their stock report based on wins and losses or what they did last week," a general manager contended recently.

The GM is right. Careers aren't defined over short stretches. But we're not talking about just three games here or there. With Wilson trailing only Peyton Manning in passer rating and QBR since Week 8 of last season, it was worth asking whether the Seahawks' second-year starter might be pulling away from the others in general -- and specifically from Luck, who was regarded as the top passing prospect in a generation. The numbers are striking, but they do not tell the full story.

Yup. He isn't getting the Manning treatment though. Boy twitched and got a false start. Meanwhile Manning is all Gangnam and laughing.

He impresses me to no end. Mature, intelligent young guy with a bucketload of talent. Wish #3 was on our team.

That was quite a performance on Wilson's/Seattle's part. Just goes to show that like NOLA, some teams are only mediocre or slightly above on the road but nearly invincible at home. Home field advantage in Seattle (or the Superdome) has got to be atleast 10 points IMO.

I saw that and couldn't believe it. Manning does that literally every frigging play. It's unreal how rules apply differently to him and Brady.

I would not want to go there for a playoff game. That defense and the crowd is ridiculous.

We can probably add he is doing this with piss poor blocking since his best blockers have been injured and a receiving corps that spends more time injured than healthy. Hell, he even made Golden Tate relevant. Definitely a player and actually humble about it all. Just goes to work.

This is a great point.

He definitely has that makes-the-players-around-him-better factor.

That is what home field advantage is supposed to be like. Teams are supposed to fear road games, at least they used to. It's a throwback to days when going to Pittsburgh, Candlestick in the 80s), hell even Glanville turned the Astrodome into legit home field.

I'm insanely jealous of what they have created there. Good teams feed off that support, and can turn good teams into better ones.

Not disputing Seattle's home field advantage at all, but they've been pretty damn good on the road too. They're 11-1 for a reason, and 5-1 on the road. And the one loss on the road was at Indy in a close game. To contrast, the Saints are 3-3 on the road.

What's sorta odd is that based upon my own personal experience people in the Puget Sound area really don't care that much about football. However they obviously enjoy getting stoned and partying, especially now since they can do it legally.

If I recall correctly, weren't the Sonics fans also pretty insane back in the 90's when they were really good?

The pass he made on the all out blitz where he took the snap and floated a 40-yarder to Baldwin was damn impressive.

Wilson looks great, but that defense is a monster. I think it's too early to "crown" any of these young guys right now. Just about all of them would benefit from that Seahawks D. Their secondary is the best in the league and makes it tough for any QB, even a guy like Brees.

I think the Seahawks will represent the NFC in New York if they keep playing at the level they're at right now. The only things that could slow them down is injuries and beating themselves with mistakes, but I do not see any team in the NFC winning a January game in Seattle.
