I saw the very first UofH SWC game live in 1976 (I believe I have the year right). My Church took us all up to Waco on one of those old Church converted School Buses and I had the pleasure of watching the Danny Davis led Cougars beat the Baylor Bears in the Cougars inaugural SWC game. The Coogs got in at the end before the entire thing blew up as the teams were all ratting each other and the Conference lost all credibility...sad ending for a once great College football conference.
Did you know that even with a dial lock in place, you can dial out on a rotary phone? You can dial out, via the button that depresses when you hang it up. Clink the receiver button quickly the number of times you wish the number to be dialed. Click the button quickly 3 times to dial a 3, and on and on and on.
What I liked best about the rotary was you always got to talk to a real person right ways. No push one for this or two for that. They had to answer the call.
