First, yucky let down by our team. If we are honest, we got the w-l record that most of us thought but the play...well there's the rub. Second, Schaub is not going anywhere until after 2013 due to his cap hit. Yates with two seasons behind him probably would not be beaten out by any of the QBs available to us. Owner after THE loss basically said Schaub can take us to Super Bowl. I know, me neither, but he signs off on deals. Most of the following is what I've mocked for some time; combine may change it some.
I am stating here there will be a trade that gives us another second round; either down from #27 or up. That will not be addressed here.

1. WR Terrance Williams 6'2" 205 sub 4.5 Baylor 97-1832 yds @ 18.9. Quick off line and uses body control on sidelines and RZ. Tracks ball well & adjusts to aid scrambling QB. Starts WR2 game one and eventually replaces AJ. Franchise type player.

2. OT Menelik Watson 6'6" 320 FSU surprised many including me by coming out; TBH was not even on my board. He has only played 20 games including 8 in JC. Solid player and possible 10 year guy. Needs a year to develop but where better than Texans?

3A NT Brandon Williams 6'3" 325 Missouri Southern State 68 T with 16.5 for loss. 8.5 sacks +8 QB hurries + 2 break ups+ 5 forced fumbles. Cody gone and should beat out Mitchell quickly.

3B ILB Kiko Alonzo 6'3" 242 Oregon 75 T + 12 for loss + 4 INTs + 2 forced fumbles

4. CB/S Darrius Slay 6'1" 190 4.37 5 INTs 39 " vertical Miss St. Can play either position but I have him at safety.

5A. OLB Travis Long (knee) 6'4" 245 Wash St.
5B. TE Michael Williams 6'5" 272 Alabama tremendous blocker who can line up at OT in "strong" set. Soft hands who replaces Casey. A FB will be UDFA if Clutts cannot do it.
5C. C/OG Mario Benavidez 6'4" 304 Louisville rated a 5th best center and could play OG ala Ben Jones.

6. RB Cierre Woods 6'1" 215 4.48 ND replaces Tate and explodes in Texans system.

7A. OLB Quanterus Smith (knee) 6'5" 248 Western Kentucky with 12.5 sacks before injury.
7B. DT Kapron Lewis-Moore 6'4" 306 last game ACL injury.

I can see a trade into high second round to select Alec Ogletree ILB

JMO:

1. Williams, love the player and pick.
2. Watson, I have doubts that Texans would take a guy with so little FBS playing time this high when other proven OT's are most likely available. Why not take Oday Aboushi, Dallas Thomas, Ricky Wagner, or Kyle Long, etc... someone that won't take so long to develop?
3. Williams, I'm just not sold on this guy yet.
3b. Alonzo, love this pick, athletic ILB.
4. Slay, another great pick and love the size for the position.
5. Long, I don't know anything about him, I'll have to trust you. Can he play ILB as well, or is he strictly a WOLB?
5b. Williams, I love this pick but I think he could move up to the 4th.
5c. Benavides, I like the player but we've already got depth at C and I think he could go earlier if he can keep his weight up over 300. Maybe.
6. Woods, good depth pick.
7. Smith, Moore, both good players but I don't like drafting IR guys.

I like all the picks except Alonzo. He's not that good IMO. Has good size and mobility, but when I watch him play I don't see it. Looks a little soft to me tbh.

Terrance
Menelik
Kiko
Cierre
Quanterus
Kapron
If we could somehow replace Terrance with Barkevious Mingo you'd hands down have the All First Name team trophy wrapped up. :truck:

Long imo is strictly OLB. Benavides, we need another OG to develop and he can play center. I would move Myers out after 2013 if Jones can replace.

IR guys? Not necessarily? Both could be back by October and 7th rounders usually don't play much first season. Risk/reward!

Thanks as always for you rinput.

Looks a little soft to me tbh.I don't disagree & I would want a better LB but just not one that I like available. I think he would be as good as what we have and improve next to our vets. As we know, this is a weak class. My original choice was Andrew Jackson but he returned to school. I thought after he saw his teammate (one of my 7th)Smith go down, Jackson would come out. Also, I mentioned hoping for a trade up to go after an ILB.

Ok, but nowhere else does.If we can get him in third even better.

Mel Kiper #24: "Wednesday morning, NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper, Jr. released an updated mock draft that featured three Florida State juniors -- Bjoern Werner, Menelik Watson and Xavier Rhodes -- in the first round. The placement of Werner (6th) and Rhodes (28th) in the draft's initial round weren't all that surprising -- most draft experts have them slotted somewhere in the first 32 picks -- but Watson at No. 24 was a bit surprising." http://www.seminoles.com/blog/2013/01/espns-mel-kiper-on-fsu-right-tackle-menelik-watson.html

He looked absolutely dominant, from time to time, during Florida State’s 2012 season. Given another year to improve at the collegiate level, he might have been a Round 1 or Round 2 prospect. Watson will slip a little lower than that in April, but he could turn into a steal. http://nfl.si.com/2013/01/15/2013-nfl-draft-under-the-radar-underclassmen-that-could-be-sleepers/

Meaning if taken in third and is a steal, could have been taken in second.

A few names of underclassmen OLs that have declared early for the draft over the past 10+ years. Most of the guys I listed all had ridiculous amounts of physical skills and ability, some turned out some did not. But Watson stacks up to having elite physical potential as a offensive lineman. There is a reason he came out early, and if he does indeed drop past round 2, which I really doubt he will be one hell of a pickup.

He has the potential to be one of the best OLs FSU has put into the league in a long, long time. I saw Mel Kiper Jr. saying he could go Round 1. It just takes one team to fall in love with a prospect and do something foolish, taking him Round 1 right now is foolish. Anytime after about pick 50 he is a solid addition, especially if you have a veteran RT he can sit behind for a year, maybe 2 while you work on his technique and get him some experience.http://www.draftcountdown.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3244801

Dude is a physical marvel no doubt. This kid will wow people at the combine. The only issue is his age. I think he will be 26ish come April. http://boards.philadelphiaeagles.com/topic/661770-menelik-watson-florida-state-ot-2013-nfl-draft-ee/

Probably your best mock this year.

Thank you. As the season is over, I have more time to research & dig deeper in evaluation rather than making sure I am keeping up with games. I am still tweeking ILB and my 3 AMIGOS partners and I are discussing WRs. I was very surprised and disappointed when Andrew Jackson returned to Western Kentucky. I don't think he will move his ranking up much higher than third and few thought he'd go that high. This being a weak draft should have helped him. I also wished I could find more video on Brandon Williams.
