seriously..

Barwin hopped, and fell into the player in front of him.

He did not jump on his back to get leverage. Automatic first are you FING KIDDING ME!?!?!

This crap looks exactly like the same crap-sack the refs pulled on us last year in Indy..

No, he jumped on GB olinemans back and lept off. Good call, stupid ST play by a player playing like garbage.

Let's not blame this on the refs. We're being really undisciplined. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

They stopped that team repeatedly on 3rd down. and that call on Barwin WAS CRAP. No excuses. He wasn't using leverage to get at a block, anyone can see that..

Sorry bud, you're wrong on this one.
What Barwin did was 100% the right call.
Read up on the rules.
It's a textbook violation--and a STUPID ONE to boot.
He never even raised his arms to try and block the kick.

You're right but it's a mistake to think that we didn't get "Boger'd" again. Jerome Boger calls a metric ****-ton of penalties on the Texans every single time he refs one of our games. As a rule he is generally a pretty ticky-tack ref but there are a few teams that he just goes buck-wild on and we're one of them.

Not sure why. Maybe we cost him money in a bet a few years back or something. For whatever reason he loves to lube up the Texans and take them for a spin.

The hands to the face against Watt was...let's say....pretty obvious. Not just obvious but everyone knew it's a foul and nothing was done about it. We can't even have one superstar call for our one superstar.

And since it's up for discussion, how about a no jumping rule that applies to all players? How is it not safe for a defender to ramp up and really attempt a block but it's perfectly fine for a RB to dive headfirst over a defensive line or a WR to dive to hit a pylon?

I only saw it once, so don't bother reading this or whatever, but I'm just in the mood to say what I at least thought I saw on that play.

First of all, no, it's not why we lost. I haven't even seen most of the game yet; I'm just in a mood.

Anyway, what I saw was our player jump. That's about it; he jumped. He went over a blocker. He did not push off of the blocker with his feet or anything else. He did not even raise his hands, I assume because he was worried about a ticky-tack foul, which is what happened.

I guess the rule is that you are not allowed to jump too high. Go figure.

I don't even know if I'll blame the refs for the overall loss. I don't really know if I even want to watch it. I hope that our D is not hurting THIS bad because one LB is out for the season.

We're 5-1. If we go 10-2....well, I'll probly still overact the second time we lose. Pft.

Were there some bad calls and no calls? You bet.
Would it have made a difference if they had all gone our way? Probably not.
Yeah the officials sucked.....we sucked even more.

OK - spare me any whining comments. The Texans got their asses handed to them. That doesn't eliminate poor officiating a valid issue for discussion.

The JJ Watt non-call was miserable and made a 30+ yard change in field position. It was inexcusable.

Really odd how inconsistently ticky tacky they were on pass interference. Not saying any one team got an advantage here. It's just that when you start getting so minor on calls it leaves almost every play up to discretion. On the flip side it was like they had never seen a holding call.

Sorry bud, you're wrong on this one.

Maybe you need to read the rule - the official NFL rule (p. 79 (http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/2011_Rule_Book.pdf):

LEAPING
(r) Clearly running forward and leaping in an obvious attempt to block a field goal, or Try-kick after touchdown and landing on players, unless the leaping player was originally lined up within one yard of the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped.

He took one step and jumped - not clearly running forward.
Obvious attempt to block - seems your never raised his arms would argue against that.
He was very close to one yard from the LOS which might nullify the entire rule.

We've had bad calls go against us in almost every game this year. The packers got the worst call of the year wrapped up. Every team gets screwed on some calls.

Just seems a little whiny to me to have a multi page thread about bad calls after getting our asses kicked on the first loss of the season.

This would have been a good thread to have as an ongoing thread since game one, but when you make it after the ass whooping we took it's whining.

Yeah we had some bad calls go against us....just like every other week...so what...only difference is this week the other team was better...

Yes, he moved FORWARD and jumped, AND he came down on players.
And he jumped...why exactly? To signal the beer man? Ridiculous.
He jumped so as to block the kick--which is (hopefully) why he was in there. He came down on top of other players in front of him.
Is this really so difficult? No it's not. You're just being your typical crotchity old woman self.

Maybe you need to watch the replay.
He jumped and came down on top of another player.
The rule is there to protect the safety of players.
Why didn't he raise his hands?

Because he was scared of falling...
because he was scared of heights...
because he didn't think he could jump that high and surprised himself...
or (my personal favorite) because he's a flippin' moron that got a stupid penalty at a stupid time of the game.

If you're going to take the chance on getting a "judgment" or "tippy-tap" call from an official, then don't be stupid enough to take the chance in the first place. Jump up and then back down. That's the way the rule is written. He didn't.

And as far as where he was on the line of scrimmage when he jumped...that's completely irrelevant. The rule states where he originally lined up.

I'm sure that everyone in the stadium that saw Barwin jump up and over the pile thought "Why is he jumping so high? Oh that's right, it a kick attempt, but what was he doing so high?" I'm sure that nobody thought that he was actually trying to block the kick.

Yes, he moved FORWARD and jumped, AND he came down on players.

The rule isn't moved forward. It is as stated, "clearly running forward."

And he jumped...why exactly?

You're the one who acted like his not raising his arms was some damning event. Doesn't fit the NFL rule description.

And as far as where he was on the line of scrimmage when he jumped...that's completely irrelevant. The rule states where he originally lined up.

I said nothing different so what are you arguing? I said he was right about the one yard off line when he lined up, not when he jumped.

Watch any game next week and you will see stronger arguments for infraction of this rule. Yet it gets called in .5% of NFL games. Obvious to you. Maybe you should have been a replacement ref.

:kubepalm: We got the ever loving **** kicked out of us, it is a loss, quit grasping straws. And as far as crap calls are concerned, the packers are the biggest lopsided end of receiving one. They were 3-2 coming in here in my eyes, and a missed FG away from 4-1.

Quit this.

They wouldn't have even have had to pay me.
I'd have called games for one of those pink whistles.

I guess I just seriously disagree with another rule here. Unless you're climbing up someone and/or using them as a step-stool, I don't see why who you fly over or where you land should matter. It's a kick and you're jumping to try and block it. That, IMO, is what you're supposed to do. If people don't want to be landed on, they shouldn't be playing football.

Not exactly the only rule I disagree with, I must admit.

Why can't fans call out the refs when thier team loses? Do other fans think they are paragons of accountability when they say "you can't blame the refs, the Texans just lost". Why can't both be right?

I think the Texans lose this game no matter who the refs were, but how bad could be debated.

I don't care what anyone says, in the first half before I had a couple of beers GB was holding like crazy. Look this is a team whose O has sucked, and hasn't bee able to run the ball, and now all of a sudden they look like the best OL in the NFL. Don't think so. I don't think there are any NFL Black Helicopters outside Reliant, but i wished I had the All-22 Film.

I saw Reed get held so many times it wasn't even funny. The Refs called Manning for what they acted like was fighting, I'm sorry but those were taps, and Collinsworth acted like they were haymakers.

The Texans should have put thier big boy pants on after that drive, but they didn't, sometimes even good teams don't step it up.

Do we get calls are way, absolutely, but GB was holding like crazy from what i could see, and it neutralized are pass rush. With the secondary in man coverage it allowed Rodgers enough time to throw all over us, and helped them run the ball. It slowed an aggressive team down, period........

To recap it doesn't mean that the Texans didn't play like crap and the Packers didn't kick some ass, but it is what it is..........

Did we get our butts kicked? Undoubtedly. We couldn't run the ball to save our lives and our secondary sucked balls. (I still want to know why our #1 CB wasn't even on the field for the TD against Ball)

However, I figure the refs account for about 14 of Green Bay's points. I honestly think we needed a "Black Knight" moment with a torn off limb to get a holding call. I'm not even going to address the one-sided PI calls either. 30 yds of penalties on one play, when one was never called an "after the play was over" variety?

If I was a littel more paranoid, I'd have thought the refs were trying to make up for the debacle in Seattle.

I watched the replay like 10 times. Barwin did NOT come down on anyone. He landed on one foot so that his other foot would avoid landing on Shaun Cody. His left food did graze a Packer as he was flying over. I assume that's what they called? Which is very ticky-tack IMO. What I'm really pissed at is that penalty is an automatic first down! Really? It was 4th&20! Aren't personal fouls typically just a 15 yard penalty?
