When your knees are already swelling from the beginning of the season and your knee remains an issue as demonstrated by the injury reports, you don't necessarily need to take direct hits to get worse......just gross numbers of REPETITION which alone can lead to "overuse knee syndromes" leading to damage of muscle, tendon, cartilage, bone, ligament, or any combination thereof. And this is not to even mention the not uncommon dreaded "compensation" injury. And if not rested overuse syndromes can result in conditions requiring surgery.
Today, my concern of "overuse" goes up one more notch. Mostly under the radar, despite fully "participating" in practice, Foster's listing has changed from "knee" to "HAMSTRING." When the body tries to tell us things, it's best to listen before it's too late.
Another subtle change, today we see a "knee" added to Caldwell's "ankle" listing.
On Friday, Tate did not practice, but practiced "limited" today, as was the case for Wade. On Friday, Caldwell practiced "limited" with a "full" practice today. However, the fact to be most aware of is that Kubiak has stated that our only full-contact practices are normally on Thursdays.
Keep in mind that the league has also placed limits on the number of full-contact padded practices during the regular season. And this week's Thursday was essentially Friday.
([Kubiak] on the Jets having their ones go against each other full-speed in practice) “We do it all the time. That’s just part of our routine. We always go at each other. Every Thursday we put our pads on and bang. That’s part of what we do to be a physical football team. We’re always going against each other.”
Teams now are only permitted a total of 14 for the year with 11 of those practices conducted during the first 11 weeks of the season (a maximum of one per week). And what does "limited" practice really mean? It probably has a wandering definition from one day to another and from one player's situation to another. What I'm trying to say here is that trying to evaluate the true meaningful status of players on the injury reports may require some closer attention to the association of level of practice listed to the specific day of practice.

I didn't see Santonio Holmes name on the list; is he on IR or something?

Yes, with the dreaded Lisfrank. He's a gone pecan.
