HOUSTON -- One full-speed practice didnít give me too much to judge the Texans' young receivers by.

But itís not a secret that Keshawn Martin is the best of the three kids at this point, a notch ahead of DeVier Posey and Lestar Jean.

Houstonís counting on the three to give it options beyond Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter at receiver in the passing game.

Martin practiced with authority as the third guy Tuesday morning. He looks like he knows where to be and how to get there.

After practice, I spoke with quarterback Matt Schaub and defensive backs coach Vance Joseph, whoís coaching guys to defend these receivers.

They gave me mini-scouting reports -- all positives, of course -- on the trio.

Thanks for posting FS. If all of these guys can "get it" this season it'll be huge. Posey still sounds like he's a little behind but has a great work ethic.

Matt couldn't praise K-Mart any more highly. Could be just me reading something into it that's not there but it seems as though he's already earning Matt's trust. That's big.

Vance Joseph and Matt talk about LeStar being able to separate and make catches in traffic. Saw him do just that a couple of times Saturday night. I liked what Matt said about him taking the ball "off the rim".

Can/will they be NFL ready in three weeks.

I guess we'll all find out about the same time.

I think Martin is real deal and AJ/Walter/OD and Martin are four key targets with some passes for RBs. I'm resigned to Posey not being factor until 2013 which after draft was disgusting to me. Now that WR corps seems to be coming around, I'm viewing Posey as a Brandon Harris sit and learn option.

Lestar if he continues could be the eventual WR1 that I want learning behind AJ. He does seem to play faster than the 4.65 he is credited with. I would love to take WR off my 2013 mock draft.

As it stands now I have to agree with you on the 4 key receiving targets and then some for the RB's. Don't know if they'll throw to the RB's as much as they did last year (Foster 2nd most receptions on team), especially if Martin becomes a big threat and AJ stays healthy, but I'm sure they'll get their share.

Also have to agree with you taking WR off the 2013 draft list. At least in the higher rounds. I'm hoping they go after a big, fast, 6'6" tall TE that can block well and has great hands! :D That's not too much to ask, is it? :shades: Can you imagine what that would do to our Offense? Anyway, I'm dreaming. That's down the road, after we win the :trophy:

I really like what I'm hearing about Martin. He seems to be dedicated, and takes his game very serious. He's even quieter than Dre, and I thought only a mime was capable of that. :littlelol:

I still think people are sleeping on Jean too early right now.

Just because he's not getting the props like Martin is at the moment doesn't mean he isn't eventually going to be a factor.

Sooner or later, both AJ and Walter are going to struggle or just flat out have too much of a drop-off due to age/injury/etc. And we'll need more than just Martin to come to the rescue. With the money we're going to tie up in Cushing, Brown, and possibly Barwin...and what about Schaub?...a legit WR1 in free agency won't be prudent money spent.

Instead, Martin and Jean--and hopefully Posey--will become the new trio here over the next season or two.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting AJ and Walter out to pasture just yet. I'm only saying that the Jean-Martin-Posey combination can become a stable and reliable group of receivers that makes the inevitable loss of AJ and Walter more tolerable than we might realize at the moment.

Eff a buch of Paul Kuharsky!! Whether he had positive things to say or not about our "kid recievers" or not, just the fact that he used the term "kid recievers" is condescending!!!

Then again, what do you expect from a bald-headed, fat ****, Tennessee Tinnbred honk, who poses as BSPN's AFC South correspondent????

Again, maybe he praised the young Texan recievers, but the fact that he called the Texan recievers "kids", is testament to his asshettery!!

Pretty sure I've heard Kubiak refer to players as "that kid" in post game interviews.

Yeah, but to paraphrase Otter from Animal House - He can't do that to our kid receivers, only we can do that to our kid receivers.

AND???? A coach referring to the players on his team AND a supposed ESPN AFCSouth blogger are not the same thing. How do you construe one with another...

DUMB!

6'7" 265 4.65 That's Lestar Jean's 40 and we know what Schaub said about Jean. I'm thinking 2-3 round unless he explodes this year?
