Mister Alexander, who made the team as a free agent last year, will replace Cushing against the Panthers.

Cushing is supposed to be 100 percent next week when the Texans return to practice Monday.

Cushing missed 4 practices last week because of the virus. He was released Thursday morning. Playing 15 plays wouldn't make sense.

Brian Cushing didn't make the trip to Carolina. Team wants him resting after a virus caused him 2 spend 2 nights in the hospital..
