Lions cornerback Aaron Berry’s DUI charge has gotten resolved a lot more quickly than Corey Williams‘ DUI charge.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Berry has entered a diversion program for first-time offenders. As part of the program, Berry will perform 20 to 40 hours of community service over a six months. He’ll also submit to an alcohol evaluation, and he’ll pay a fine and court costs.

Berry was charged with DUI, two counts of accidents involving unattended vehicles, and two counts of failure to stop and give information.

“He’s talking responsibility,” lawyer Corky Goldstein told Birkett. “His insurance is taking care of any damage to his car and damage to the two unattended cars, so that’ll be taken care of. And he’ll get into that ARD program probably sometime in January because they’re so backed up and he’ll be in that for six months.”

Berry will now be subject to discipline by the league. Under the substance-abuse policy, first-time DUI offenders will be fined two game checks, absent “aggravating circumstances.”link (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/20/aaron-berry-entering-diversion-program-after-dui-arrest/)

Rumors fly of another Aaron Berry off-field incident
Posted by Mike Florio on July 21, 2012, 11:23 PM EDT

On Friday, Lions cornerback Aaron Berry resolved a DUI arrest by striking a deal to enter a diversion program.

On Saturday morning, Berry may have violated the terms of the program before even being accepted into it.

A tipster passed along to PFT on Saturday a detailed account of an incident that has since shown up on a Dolphins message board. As the tip/rumor goes, Berry was arrested in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania after a group claimed he pointed a gun at them from inside a car.

The Dauphin County, Pennsylvania prison list currently doesn’t show Berry as being incarcerated, but the site explains that the information may be outdated, especially on weekends.

Most importantly, a league source tells PFT that initial review of the situation indicates that there may be “some fire” to what otherwise appears to be smoke.

None of this is confirmed. But it appears for now that something may have happened.

Here is the mentioned Post on the Phins MB (http://phinfever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7109&p=84991#p84991) which describes a laser pointed at someone.............a laser attached to a .45 Glock .

Lions’ Aaron Berry arrested on three counts of simple assault (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/22/lions-aaron-berry-arrested-on-three-counts-of-simple-assault/)

Lions cornerback Aaron Berry has been arrested on three counts of simple assault, his second arrest this year and the Lions’ seventh arrest this year.

We noted on Saturday night that a league source confirmed there was some truth to rumors of Berry being in legal trouble, and on Sunday morning the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Police Department confirmed to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that Berry was arrested.

The police told Birkett that there was a firearm involved in the incident. Although few details have been provided yet, the charges Berry faces seem to match what was posted on a Dolphins fans’ message board, describing an incident involving three victims who had a gun pointed at them by Berry.

Berry, who was also arrested in Harrisburg in June, that time for drunk driving, is likely facing a suspension from the NFL after his second arrest of the offseason. Berry is projected as a starting cornerback in the Lions’ defense.

The other Lions arrested this year have been Nick Fairley (once for drunk driving and once for marijuana possession), Mikel Leshoure (twice for marijuana possession) and Johnny Culbreath (once for marijuana possession).

DUI + assault w/handgun -- I'm thinking he should get more time off than Vilma.
