Even moreso that it has punctuated an already originally sad story. BTW, what ever happened to the $32.5 million (four-year, $32.5 million contract which Leaf lasted all four unproductive seasons and for which he received every penny)??? That's a whole lot of Vicodin. :rake:

Ryan Leaf arrested for second time in four days (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/02/ryan-leaf-arrested-for-second-time-in-four-days/)

Ryan Leaf was arrested again on Monday and accused of committing a burglary shortly after he posted bail and got out of jail after an arrest on Friday.

Central Montana Drug Force Commander Chris Hickman told the Associated Press that Leaf was arrested early Monday in Great Falls on charges of burglary, theft and two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

The new charges stem from a burglary Leaf allegedly committed on Saturday, not long after he got out of jail following his Friday arrest, which was also related to committing a burglary and illegal possession of prescription painkillers.

Leaf has a hearing scheduled for today and is still in jail.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft, Leaf is regularly named the biggest draft bust in NFL history. Leaf became hooked on prescription painkillers and was already on probation stemming from a 2010 felony conviction, but in the last year he has claimed that he beat his addiction and turned his life around.

UPDATE, 12:38 p.m.: Reports conflict about whether the second burglary took place on Saturday or Sunday. Authorities say Leaf will remain in jail for at least a few days, as he will not be permitted to post bond for his probation violation.

Damn, he was just on Rome not too long ago talking about turning his life around and his book deal.

Classic addiction.

-Stole Oxycodone from a friend, arrested on Friday.

-Posted $76,000 bond & released.

-Burglarized another home on Sunday & stole more pills.

-Arrested again on Monday.

Hint: Whoever it is needs to stop bailing him out.

Agreed, former Dodger/Yankee Steve Howe comes to mind as well.

Good Grief! The head on shot looks like that guy who was taken over by the cockroach aliens in the 1st Men In Black, after the fact, of course.

That's awful.

Poor Chargers. Every time this guy gets into trouble, the story leads with these words: "Former Chargers #1 draft pick, Ryan Leaf, was arrested...."

So the real question is: What's inside Ryan Leaf, and does it still crave sugar?

Leaf faces up to 50 years in prison (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/14/leaf-faces-up-to-50-years-in-prison/)

Ryan Leaf, the second overall pick in the 1998 draft, didn’t spend many years in the NFL. He could be spending 50 of them in prison.

According to the Associated Press, Leaf faces two counts of burglary and two counts of criminal possession of a dangerous drug after his most recent legal troubles in Montana. The maximum penalties add up to a half-century behind bars.

Rarely if ever does anyone get the max. But the fact that he’s facing up to 50 means that, if he’s convicted or pleads guilty, Leaf likely will do real time.

He’s also facing legal issues in Texas, where he received a sentence of 10 years probation after a similar incident in 2010.

Leaf currently is jailed without bond as authorities in Montana and Texas share information as to whether he violated the terms of his probation. On Friday, the prosecutor in Texas said a motion will be filed Monday to revoke Leaf’s probation.

Leaf was arrested two days apart last month. He had been receiving packages containing controlled substances from another state, and he had stolen oxycodone from an acquaintance’s house. Far more troubling is the allegation that he was found in the home of two residents whom he didn’t know, and that after he left there were three prescription medications missing.

From the top of the world to the bottom so quickly. Wow. That's sad, but I can't say he doesn't deserve it.

The sh@tty thing is that even sending him a box of oxy every week is still cheaper than paying for his prison room and board. This guy needs help in the worst way, I don't think jail is the answer. Maybe a big hammer, just hit him in the head with it repeatedly. That might do it.
