...on this day, eleven years ago. His replacement? Quincy Carter! :bender:

On this date in 2001 – eleven years to the day that Peyton Manning was released by the Indianapolis Colts — Troy Aikman was waived by the Dallas Cowboys.

Just as (presumably) Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III will soon discover, following a Hall of Famer is not easy. Quincy Carter found that out in Dallas in 2001, when he became the Cowboys first starter of the post-Aikman era. Here’s a look back at Carter’s first game in Dallas, as originally presented in the film, Foundation for Success: http://nflfilms.nfl.com/2012/03/07/this-day-in-football-troy-aikman-waived/

Quincy Carter was a beast, I wish he was still the Cowgirls QB.

ahh yes... Crackhead Carter. :) I remember that era quite fondly.. it was the golden age of Dallas Cowboys QBs. First you had the great Carter and then the legendary competition from Chad Hutchinson... Followed up by the great trade to acquire Drew Henson from Houston (Which was about the only time Asserly ever got the upper hand on anyone). Mix in a 60 year old Vinny Testaverde and the bronze statue that was Drew Bledsoe and you'll be hard pressed to find a greater stretch of finer QB play.

All this time I though Quincy was injury prone when he was face down on the field, but he was just trying to snort the entire 50 yard line.

Jeramiah once calle him 'A once in a lifetime cokehead'.

Here I thought Rent-A-Center was releasing him from their contract.
