I'm just hoping for a good game. Rarely has there been two teams I cared so little about play for it all.

Time to sit back, pop a top, and enjoy. :)

It's been a great game so far.
I'd like to know who chose the Gunspoint area for the Panthers for the SB in Houston so I could kick his ass. All I've heard all week is how great Indy is and what a great job they've done. Indy is a little sh^thole of a city. No way it has better ANYTHING than Houston. The Gunspoint decision probably torpedoed any more SB's in Houston.

So personally I think that late score by the Pats just might prove fatal for the Giants. You can't expect to keep Brady down all game and while he is down you need to get a few more than 9 points.

The quality of Super Bowl commercials has gone to Hell in a hand basket. I remember the good ol' days when the commercials were the highlight now it's the game that has taken center stage.

But, the "It's Half-time in America" commercial with Clint Eastwood was easily the best of the this Super Bowl and any of the others one in my opinion.

It wouldn't have mattered. FG or not the Pats still had to make a TD.

Why is it "classless" for the Pats to leave the field!? It's the Giants time to shine, and they let them have the stage. My hats off to them for being CLASSY and allowing that to happen. JMO!!

Why is it "classless" for the Pats to leave the field!? It's the Giants time to shine, and they let them have the stage. My hats off to them for being CLASSY and allowing that to happen. JMO!!

exactly. that's what press conferences are for. people are just looking for something else to hate about the patriots. who really cares? it was a good game.

Maybe it's because I think the Texans (when healthy) can beat either team OR the fact that both teams got in via gifts from their opponents, don't know, but I'm not getting the irresistible force vs the immovable object effect today.

One thing nobody has mentioned is, they won their previous game because the other team shanked an easy field goal, they lost this one because rather than let the Giants try the FG (something I wouldn't fancy doing on such a big stage!) they let them walk into the endzone.

Haha, I see what you did there, but I was actually meaning the way the Pats allowed the TD, but had they made a stand and forced the FG, it may have been shanked, and they wouldn't have needed to drive.

I'd be upset if I saw the Texans lose because of points that they gave to the other team anyway, I see the reason for it, it left a minute on the clock and who knows it may have worked out if the first two plays of that drive aren't dropped.

On another point, how clutch is Eli Manning, he's led his team to two SB victories, neither of which they had any right to win.

I actually saw the Giants play the Dolphins at Wembley in 06, and I've got to say, whilst the conditions were awful, they were poor that day, so was Eli. It seems like he just becomes a better player when it really matters.

Anyway, that was i fitting end to what has been a fantastic season. Can't believe its all over though!

Not a mistake a Vet QB should make, especially not Tom Brady.

Hindsight is 20-20 but you're right. If the Patriots' defense just slipped up a little earlier and allowed the Giants to score a Touchdown, preferably with the two-minute warning approaching and three timeouts left. That would have given Brady plenty of time to win the game. He still made it somewhat exciting starting at his own 20 yard line, 57 seconds left and one timeout. But that's just not enough time to work with.

But man, Wes Welker on the previous Patriots possession had a chance to make a wide-open catch, although a tough one as he dove backwards. If he makes that catch the Patriots milk even more time and continue a huge drive that likely wins them the game. On the very next play they had another first-down catch that was dropped which forced them to punt and lose the game. Too many dropped passes by the Patriots in this game, some of them were hard to believe.

I've actually heard some Giants fans say Tuck has been doing this for a long time, he just doesn't do it on every sack. They even claim he's done it before Foster started doing it.

I tried to do some research of this on the web, but couldn't find anything on it. I also looked at whatever youtube footage on Tuck I could find, but haven't seen anything.

I can't believe the Patriots did not even have the class to come out and be interviewed. I think this is unprecedented. Can't remember that ever happening before, but not really surprised seeing as how it's the Pats.

I thought it was odd that on ESPN Game Day (Sunday morning), they did a story about how the Patriots were the first team to come out AS A TEAM instead of being introduced individually.

The odd part was how after this loss, the Patriots were a collection of fractured individuals who did their own thing and could care less. They are a slightly more talented version of the Jets, in terms of their character when it comes to losing. Even Giselle Bundchen (sp?) was cussing about how "My ****ing husband cannot throw AND catch the ball at the same time. Why were the wide receivers dropping so many passes?" Perfect example of what I'm saying. It's Tom Brady The Magnificent and everyone else is an ******* if they mess up somehow.

I can imagine Coughlin lives and dies, in his own mind, with how a person (a coach or a player) handles adversity and such. Coughlin is a stickler for being honorable in the face of success AND failure. The modern Belichick- driven " win at all costs" mindset is at direct odds with what a traditionalist like Coughlin promotes in his own locker room.

Tom Brady sat at his locker, in full pads, for 20 minutes and stared at the floor...Kraft tried to speak to him, but he zombied out and wouldn't really allow himself to be comforted by Kraft nor anyone else.

The better TEAM won, obviously.

not sure but from late in the season

With the entire season on the line for both teams, the Giants are clearly more confident and more prepared. No wonder why Foster decides to embrace the fact that Giants defensive end Justin Tuck has stolen his Namaste bowing on-field celebration move, one that Foster has been doing since he burst onto the scene as an MVP candidate last season.

"Justin tuck, namaste," Foster tweets after the Giants' pummel the Cowboys. "The light in me, recognizes the light in you. #Namaste my brother."

how were the commercials?
:D

The quality of Super Bowl commercials has gone to Hell in a hand basket.

But, the "It's Half-time in America" commercial with Clint Eastwood was easily the best of the this Super Bowl and any of the others one in my opinion.

I saw the US commercials - but I think this one that aired in Canada was the best:

(I know people don't click a lot of youtube links - but I really think this one is worth it)

http://youtu.be/y0qZYqdsYAg

a little background:

The commercial was shot at the hockey rink across the street from my wife's school where they take the kids ice skating each week. Well, not too long ago, all of these broadcast trucks show up and a ton of activity pops around the little rink in Port Credit - a small community on Lake Ontario, just west of Toronto.

Nobody really knew what was going on.

We saw the commercial Super Bowl night and it was crazy - they told these guys, just some recreational hockey league - that they were going to be filmed for a documentary.

Turns out, Budweiser turned the arena into a raucous stadium, complete with fans decked out in Generals and Amigos gear, rink announcers, etc. flash-mob style.

The guys - a bunch of middle aged locals - couldn't believe it.

And it's not really a big deal, but my wife was sitting there last night saying, "I can't believe that's our arena. We just had the kids there last week."

Thought it was pretty cool - and better than any of the US commercials I've seen since. Better than the Clint one, imo

I was just catching up with Chester FC fan blog 'The Jestrian (http://thejestrian.blogspot.com/)', a blog which revolves around spoof news reports about my favorite 'soccer' team, and stumbled up this review of the Superb Owl, pretty funny;

Injury woes for Neil Young
Neil Young has an injury crisis ahead of Saturday's game against Stafford, as several of his players hurt themselves copying the American Football they watched on TV last night.

A tournament called the Superb Owl was played out between two teams, one of whom won. Unfortunately, no-one at the Jestrian cares enough to find out anything more than that about what happened, as watching adverts, briefly interrupted by rugby with forward passes, until 4am is not a good use of anyone's time.

Nevertheless, a number of CFC players ended up watching the bizarrely popular spectacle as they were all round CFC Publicity-Gatherer and airplane-botherer Jaffa Cakes's house watching Bomber Boys, and didn't turn the TV off before the Superb Owl came on.

"Once a programme has started, I've gotta see it through to the end," said Chris Simm. "So I made the boys watch it with me."

Only Joe Ormrod from the first team squad left Cakes' Ivory Tower before the "game" started, as it was his bedtime, and his dad came to pick him up.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Blues sat trying to figure out why anyone would enjoy this most stodge-ridden of sports. However, as one player (don't know any names, sorry) got heftily wiped out, (we're assuming this probably happened at one point?) John Danby suggested that "maybe it's the violence that makes it fun."

Studies at the Royal Institute of Feeding the Daily Mail have shown that people are entirely influenced by what they see on TV, so what happened next was inevitable. Putting on an old cricket helmet found in his spare room and stuffing a cushion underneath his suit, Cakes invited the Chester players to smash the living shades out of him, NFL-style.

Michael Wilde and Antoni Sarcevic were first to take up this offer, and knocked Cakes clean out. After shifting the unconscious Media Magnet into the kitchen so that he could 'sleep it off', the rest of the players took turns in the makeshift armour. Liam Brownhill was rendered unavailable for the weekend's match, as Wes Baynes slammed him into a wall.

"He jibbed me at Trivial Pursuit in the week," said an unrepentant Baynes, alluding to the pair's ongoing board game feud.

Meanwhile, Michael Powell suffered a gashed head, as he was unable to fit the helmet over his impressive quiff and Matty McNeil suffered a hip injury, because he's old.

Upon hearing of the evening's goings on and his unexpected sick list, Neil Young rolled out his current buzzword, commenting that that the boys had been "sloppy."

"Not playing American Football in someone's living room is something that we'll have to work on. It's my job as manager to make sure they stop doing it, but the lads will also have to take some responsibility."

yea... the ad space here is going to be cheaper

and the ad we saw during the game was 1 minute in length - not sure if they aired the 2 minute version that I linked or not. They might have and we missed it.

moreover, Budweiser ran 2 1-minute long ads that presented a historical look at the beer. And they didn't rate very well, apparently, according to Ad Meter.

And most all of the companies that bought 1 minute of adspace in the US did a poorer job in their ads than Labatt's did in their 1-minute Canadian Budweiser commercial that we saw.

Anheuser-Busch, alone, spent over 30 million dollars on total SB ad space.

Take that commercial from Canada and they could've aired a mini-documentary version for that money and gotten better reviews for Budweiser than they got from a keg-fetching dog, imo.
