Is there any word on when the new kit is getting unveiled? One slight disappointment I have with the NFL is that they don't change their uni's every couple of years or so because I really love sports kit designs and the excitement of seeing the new soccer kits every year is something I really get into.

I hope to see the Texans' logo on the new uni's as well as I think its something that the current jerseys are missing, especially as they have one of the best logo's in the entire league!

Are these new concepts?

They hit the web early alst year and people claimed they were Nike Combat alternatives for when they take over the NFL deal. Nike quickly said no they were not theirs. I dont beleiev it, I think Nike "leaked" them to get fan reaction. We will have some form of Nike combat alternatives this year.

The gloves remind me way to much of a candy cane. Try again nike. The "leaked" concept art for uniforms isn't bad however. Just get rid of the thick red line pointing at the crotch on the white pants please lol.

I really like this.

As much as I dig blue..... deep steel blue...

I think White & Red should be our primary colors.. I really dig the white helmets. I love these sleeves, but think the Texas themed sleeves are better.

I also think the battle red plus the America themed sleeves would be awesome.

I do like the white/red look but that would be a good look for the cardinals. Or like if the Rockets switched into a football team. Gotta have some blue but I do like the white helmet. I think they should find a way to get the white helmets in. The 2nd one is awesome. Very much like. The sleeves are perfect.

People started trying to update the Texans uniforms about 12 minutes after they were introduced. I don't understand it and I guess I never will. I hope we're watching the Texans play in the exact same uniforms they're wearing right now (more or less) twenty or thirty years from now. In my view the coolest uniforms in the NFL have the most history on them.

I disagree. Your opinion is a popular one when these discussions come up, but change is exciting. And, we're not some old school AFL team who has history with our unis. There's no reason we should try to be the Steelers or the Bears.

There's nothing wrong with changing up the unis after a period of time like the Pats or the Chargers or the Bucs.

I agree with you that we don't have to be the Steelers but I want an identity. Remember when the Rox were changing their uniforms every couple of years (or months it seemed)? I hated it. I want something that says Texans and I want some constant. A uniform makeover after a couple of decades makes sense but not after just ten years. Even if you look at the Tacks, their uniforms have clear links to their past.

I'm not saying that we can't make small alterations but I like the idea of the link to the past. I hated the Rox PJs... I hated the Stros new uni's too. They completely forgot their past. We don't have much of a past to remember but it is important. Our first ten years weren't irrelevant, they were very relevant. Like the years without a team, they are part of my fanhood and should not be forgotten. I spent money on tickets (and sunday ticket) to watch a terrible team play. I spent days leading up to the draft begging us to draft ILBs when we drafted DTs. I don't want to lose that for the sake of "change".

The other thing I don't like is the "new look". They look very arena. You have to have that because the football is bad. Not so with the NFL. At least not until they make it two hand touch.

We never will have "history" with our uniforms if we change them up every few years. In my eyes there's every reason in the world to try and be the Steelers and the Bears (and the Packers and the Giants....).

The Patriots have made one major change in their existence and they did it after wearing their original colors for 33 years. The Chargers changes appear to me to be more about invoking their original look as opposed to trying to find a new one. The Bucs were simply stuck with the most pitiful team colors of all time. I can't blame them for changing and I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner.

None of that makes me want the Texans to suddenly throw on some ridiculous looking stuff that you might have caught the "Texas Terror" wearing. Some of these concept designs are interesting but mostly they just look like Arena ball to me but like you said, it's all opinions.

Ultimately the NFL is gonna do what the NFL wants to do.

The Texans uni are relatively new, I can understand wanting them to be the same for a while.

That will be the Texans sideline fitted, which the team will wear, so they'll be more colorways. As far as snapback goes, death to them, I hope none are made lol.

Ill buy that Texans hat though, i need a simple navy one, but Ill get one in Navy/Red to match my Rockets one.

I don't think they're changing the uniform that much. I'ts more of a format change rather than color changes. If they want to update the materials and make the unis have a modern feel I'm good with that because they aren't changing the colors or the logos. Red top/Blue bottom would be a wicked combo for regular games...not just breaking out red for Battle Red...and with the lost white helmet? Hell yeah. The gloves and cleats are ok, nothing special. It's not like they're going to pinstripes (the sure sign a team is dead in this town) and cartoonish bull or pinstripes and completely different color scheme than they had before.

I agree with this. I'm not advocating for a uni change right now. I just don't agree with the folks that are against a uni change at any point in time.

One thing I wouldn't mind now, though, is a scheme change. For instance, all Steel Blue for home games, all Liberty White for road games (including the helmets), and maybe continue the Battle Red jerseys for a game or two a season (but use them with the blue pants).

You do realize that all New Era caps come new with a flat bill, right? It's up to the wearer to decide how to wear it. I have an Astros New Era cap, and I loathe the flat bill - I must curve it.]

As far as the Nike contract goes, I don't think there will be any drastic uni changes. The NFL and its teams control all that. The true change will be in materials and the manufacturer logo.

I would say that it is about 50-50 normal crown vs low crown. I own two different Astros caps and Corpus Christi Hooks cap, they are all low crown New Era on the field. Astros low crowns can be hard to get ahold of because the team is not that popular.

It was my understanding that those uniforms that were put out a while back were not done by Nike but by a fan that created what he felt they should look like. I wouldn't get my hopes up, or be disappointed until I saw something official from Nike or the NFL specifically like the cleats and gloves. (Which I think look ****ing awesome!)

NOTABLE QUOTES FROM THE ARTICLE-

An NFL spokesman downplayed that notion last week and pointed out that teams and the league determine their logos and distinctive markings, not Nike.

"We anticipate new uniform technology (i.e., performance-driven, lighter materials). That's what Nike's [Charlie] Denson was referring to in his interview in 2010 regarding changes.

The Dolphins are not planning changes to their logo or uniforms for 2012, team President Mike Dee said. He said teams have been instructed to not disclose specifics of the Nike gear until after the Super Bowl, the last NFL game in Reebok attire.

The NFL's Nike jerseys will be unveiled in April; the draft may be the coming-out party.

There has also been speculation that players may be more inclined to change numbers for 2012 once they no longer have to reimburse Reebok for unsold jersey inventory. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said on Twitter that he would like to switch from No. 28 to 21 or 23."

A couple other things I read, Broncos are switching their home color jerseys from blue to orange, and the Seahawks were the first team to talk to Nike and they plan innovative uniform changes for next season.

I've noticed that. I have a new era Astros cap and like Hou-Tex said, it only looks normal wearing backwards. Hopefully they offer the new Texans cap with a normal or lower crown.

I need to replace my old Texans one.

This where I buy all my low crowns froms and they are legit.

Gawd, I hope you're right 'cause I don't like what I see here.

I can see alot of teams changing jerseys, but players changing jersey #s? Highly doubt it...

Actually with the transition to Nike now is the perfect time. If a player changes numbers in the middle of the contract with the designer they must buy out whatever inventory is left of that players merchandise. With Reebok going out and Nike coming in, no inventory to buy out.

Here (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-nfl-fake-nike-jerseys-pg,0,2167362.photogallery) are the rest of the "concepts." I know they are fake, but if they even come anywhere close to this, it would truly look like a bunch of clowns on the field. Some of them are just... :kubepalm:

Look at the Jags concept... It has hooker print on the sides of the jersey...

Don't care much for the pants, but that helmet is sweet. Not a fan of these combat uniforms or whatever they're called though. Just a little too out there.

I'm more stressed about how they are going to play versus how they look. I was extremely hopeful for this past season and injuries really effed us in the long run. I'm carefully optimistic about next season, as long as they don't come out playing naked, I'd be fine with whatever the team decided to wear.

I like the "Texans Just Do IT" shirt.

There is a pic (http://www.texanstalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1930186&postcount=32) of a Brandon Marshall Nike Jersey I posted over in the NFL section, and from the pic, I cant really see a difference. You cant tell much from a pic though.

I gotta say though, those New Era hats a utt bucking fugly IMO. :mcnugget:

The guy wearing this shirt loves his tribal tattoos and Lincoln Park. He's a UFC fan who only pays attention when there's a knock out.

It still looks better than those blah Nike offerings.
At least it stresses the team as opposed to saying "I'm a Nike whore". You can't tell who made those shirts, just that they're about the Texans.

"Just Do It"... "Texans Know"....?
Seriously? Since when did the Texans use those phrases?
What happened to "Next Man Up"? You know, something Texans-centric...?

Those shirts tell me Nike is all about promoting Nike and not our team.
Wake me when Nike comes up with something that promotes our team first without glorifying their brand. I don't recall seeing that self-serving crap from Reebok.

Why can't they work with each team and produce 3 or 4 designs that are specific to that team only? I get that it might be costly, but I'd like to have some gear that fans of other teams simply can't get for their teams because it only represents the Texans.

Meaning, there would be this kick-ass shirt, but the design only has "Houston Texans" (or w/e Texans reference) on it. It doesn't come in the flavor of other teams.

Edit - For clarity?

I would love to see some unique Texans gear
