Three more games before the season ends. It will be nice to relax and just watch some football without any real interest in the outcome. I will mildly be a 49er fan today, but don't really care.

Like this game so far. Will be interesting to see how it plays out - the first quarter was kinda chess match like. Great INT from Webb as well. There's really little success running the ball at the moment.

And Green Ellis is in for the TD, as I say that. Nice play - good drive from the Pats.

See, even Tom Brady does what TJ Yates did last week. No excuse for Jacoby Jones.

When Yates follows up his mistake with a go-ahead TD, I'll give you credit for that point.

And for, hopefully, the last time, if we let a mistake in the first five minutes of the game take our 'nads, then all that "Next Man Up" crap is just so much crap. Mistakes, like injuries, are things that can happen at any time and things that good teams find a way to overcome. See Tom Brady's winning TD after his mistake.

01-22-2012, 07:29 PM
I was just thinking watching this Giants v 49'ers game; if the Colts release Manning could he go to the 49'ers? I know there is some talk about him potentially going to the Cardinals but the 49'ers are the better team. This would give Peyton at least one more serious shot at winning a Super Bowl.

Well sorry, Kyle Williams pretty much lost the game for the 9'ers. 2 huge muffs.

Yeah and Jacoby blew **** for us too. That's my point.

But if people are going to ***** about "one play not making a game", and "shouldnt be in that position to begin with" and other nonsensical cliched crap, then they damn well better blame Williams AND Smith AND the offense for not doing anything.

But Jones and Williams blew chunks and cost their teams the game!

Take away Vernon Davis (and the Giants finally did), and Smith had no weapons to go to. Crabtree is a bust. Smith may be his generation's Trent Dilfer, but I can't hang this loss on him. The 49ers overachieved this season. Give Harbaugh a full offseason, and see what he does in 2012.

See, I really don't buy the no weapons thing. A good Qb will find an NFL reciever eventually. He just is not accurate at all. He was throwing passes at guys feet. Not just once but several times. The dude has been in the league for seven years and he is just not very good.

My wife said the Niners and Texans were so much alike and I can agree with that. MY problem is I mentioned the TJ was our replacement's replacement while Smith was Harbaugh's #1 guy..lol.

Good defense, usually good running game, (with TJ) lacking at QB, the Niners are the same way. That's about as deep as I meant it.

True. Seeing the niners run some options, and Alex Smith holding onto the ball for so long, made them look like the Broncos to me.

Oh yeah. I didn't think about the option thing. Funny to think the option is nosing it's way back in the NFL door. I don't think it will take the league by storm of course, but two teams running it? Strange.

Hubby's a 9ers fan too; I made the comment that they lost the same way we did... throwing to the same receiver, long ball that's not going to be completed whereas the easy 10-15 yard pass west coast style would get the job done just as well, an incredible defense the whole game (except for NOT targeting cruz the first half which just pissed me off). The difference IMO was that Smith was scrambling which even TJ doesn't compare on and Matt 1 cannot do and 2 Smith wasn't completing jack! I feel pretty confident in thinking that TJ would've completed a higher percentage than that.

But... in the end, both were 6-10 teams in 2010, and both lost in their 2nd game of the playoffs. Bleah. This super bowl is gonna be boring as hell. I'm tired of both teams! When the hell is Brady gonna retire? ... enough rant.

NEXT year WE will going to the big show in Nawlins.

DUN DUN DUNI don't think there is an especially dominant team in the NFL. A good time for a team like the Texans to step into it and claim the top of the hill next season.

I saw a quote by the guy that writes the "Shutdown Corner" blog for yahoo sports -

Things nobody said at the start of the season: "Losing Ted Ginn to injury could keep the 49ers out of the Super Bowl."

Funny how we think when it happens to us, it only happens to us. Random stuff separate winners from losers all the time. Think Franco Harris and the emaculate reception.

They will talk alot about Bill Belichick and his impressive run also. He's the best coach in the league. May be one of the best HC's ever. Second highest playoff winning percentage next to Lombardy. This matchup also features a guy you brought up, who has become my favorite non -Texan QB....Eli Manning. I like how unflappable he is, how he keeps his attitude up and is always helps the team put on a good face despite negative situations at times. He also has a ton of talent and moxie on the field. It's just amazing how he always finds his check downs when the heat is right in his grill.

I've built a begrudging respect for both him and Coughlin. Eli yesterday took an absolute pounding from a tough defense that got a ton of hits and sacks on him, but he never wavered and hung in there. Coughlin, for as much as I can't stand him because he never looks like he enjoys a minute of any game, has shown that he's able to handle the NYC pressure and media, and that's no small accomplishment. That and beating the undefeated Pats...he's shut up basically every critic he has.
