Yeah, he was a Marine Raider in WWII, killing Japanese on the regular. So he was a bad dude before he started playing football and coaching.

He was with the 4th Raider Bn. on Guadalcanal, was wounded and sent back to the states. Another service member head coach was Tom Landry who flew 30 bomber missions in Europe. His older brother was killed during the war also flying bombers.

Yup, and Coach Ken Meyer was a B-17 tail gunner in WWII. That was a rough job.

Nah, John Wayne never served. He he held a 3-A status through most of the war. He never even enlisted. Though there is a theory that if America had invaded mainland Japan they would have called Wayne up...but he would have probably gotten his pick of duty, which would have been the Navy.

yeah ur right, the CBS one isnt on there, BUT the bob allen was is pretty good.

I did the same thing. KHOU had supposedly an app to download to watch but I couldn't make it happen so I saw the ABC special. Pretty good stuff!
