not on the sheet was a couple "blown up" blocks. casey looks to be back while vickers continues to exhibit his weakness ... a thought process. i love good fullback play more than most, but there isnt a backup lineman on the squad who wouldnt be an upgrade over vickers (double negative, i know).

vickers is a bowling ball on bumper lanes - no aim required. when he hits, it's a squash ... but he doesnt lead - he searches. he doesnt read like leach, he hopes to find. he doesnt filter out like leach or casey, he rubs and hopes for the best.

that's not going to cut it in the playoffs. we're at our best in a 2 back set, and not only is casey a more capable blocker (if not as destructive), he's infinitely more dangerous as a receiver and all around more capable to execute every play called. darren sproles in tightend/fullback form.

From the AFC South blog (http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/32662/three-things-we-learned-about-the-texans)...

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/0101/nfl_g_casey_gb1_576.jpg

Texans fullback James Casey (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12535/james-casey) remains a weapon: He’s not your standard fullback. The converted tight end started the Texans' first five games, then missed a couple with a chest injury and never got back ahead of the more traditional Lawrence Vickers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9766/lawrence-vickers).

But Casey’s really more of a pass-catcher than a blocker by nature, and the Titans did poorly in figuring out how to stop him from getting free for seven receptions on seven targets for a team-high 91 yards.

Casey helped get the Texans in range for one of Neil Rackers’ field goals with a brilliant catch, keeping the ball in the air with a left-handed tip before diving to collect it.

“We were lining up in different formations with different personnel, and as a defense it’s kind of hard to understand exactly what we’re going to do,” Casey said. “Because we’re not just doing base things. We’re motioning all over the place. They don’t know if I’m fullback or tight end. It’s tough sometimes for them to set their blitzes or their coverage. Hopefully you can get guys out of spots, out of gaps in the run game and out of their zones in the pass game and try to take advantage of that.”

Next week, with Johnson playing full time and Owen Daniels (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9684/owen-daniels) and Arian Foster (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12497/arian-foster) back in the lineup, odds are Casey qualifies as only the fourth- or fifth-best receiving option when he’s on the field.

“James has some crazy hands,” Johnson said. “He’s probably the guy I’ve seen make the most one-handed catches. His hands are very, very good, I think he has the best hands on this team. I don’t know who has the best in the league, but I think he’s right up there.”

Been a James Casey fan since he signed with the Texans. Those of you who know me, KNOW I'm partial to TIGHT ENDS!! J/K!!

Sounds to me like GK could take some lessons from James!! Mix it up, keep your opponent guessing!! Sadly, not in GKs playbook.

That's some pretty high praise for Casey from AJ. I really hope we see a lot of him against the Bengals. He seems like another nice offensive find by the team.
