I hate this. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

I don't care if we're still in the playoffs. You don't ever let a divisional rival come in here and you just throw all your backups and even 3rd stringers at them. It's a sin.

Screw Kubiak and his strategy, if that's what he was thinking. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth, going on a 3-game losing streak. You play to win. You get out there to outplay and outlast your opponent. Laying up like this just creates a habit that can carry over to next week.

Severely pissed off, folks. PISSED.

Dobbins, the dude who was brought into the fold during preseason games because of injuries to LBs ('Meco, I think)....he causes the fumble.

I want to see nothing but three-step drops here by Delhomme, since Kubiak has put the scrub o-linemen in there who can't pass block to save their lives.

Hell, why doesn't he send out the first team right now?!?!?!?!?

I understand why you go teets up and hand this game to the Titans but dammit I ****ing hate losing to the Titans and the Texans should know that. I can accept sitting some dinged up starters and resting guys but this is rolling over because you don't care. If I paid to see this game I'd be throwing shit on to the field right now.

I'm not. It's in their genetic makeup to embarrass themselves.

10-6 in a year when the Colts don't have Peyton Manning is pretty much like 8-8 if you ask me. Now granted the Colts did win one anyway but still, how does that 9-7 taste?

Weeks ago we were looking at the very possibility of 13-3 or 12-4. Then we went back to being Kubiak's Texans.

I thought it was kind of a nice touch giving a guy who played hard for Houston a chance to get smashed next week. Very kind to hand Munchak a victory, very sporting. There's no way Tennessee should even stay on the field with the Texans next week. Definitely the least intimidating option. You're acting like it's a given that we'll beat them next week.

Do you not know that anything can happen in the playoffs? Bad reffing, fluke plays, our team just being "off" for one reason or another?

We didn't beat them TODAY, and we haven't played them yet next week either. So why don't we just say that T-O-D-A-Y we could have beaten them if we stuck to a game plan and strategy of using our best players? Why is that so hard?

But no. We almost beat them today, so therefore we will beat them next week.

I don't understand all the complaining.

Yeah i wanted to win too but our backups almost beat the Titans who were playing for their playoff life.

Think about that. A team we may get next week could barely beat us with nobody good in.

I hope we draw them next week. They suck.

Hmmm.....

Colts suck the worst in the whole NFL, and we couldn't beat them.

A fan hoping to roll into his or her first every Texan playoff game with as healthy of a roster as possible has just as much merit as your approach to winning today's game.

I don't understand the criticism.

We had a chance to sweep the Titans and end their chances of going to the playoffs entirely. We are backing into the playoffs on a three game losing streak. We have provided another weeks worth of comedy gold for the highlight reels.

The only reason you don't understand the criticism is that you are so ****ing far gone down the road of accepting this shit as good enough that it doesn't reach you.

Next week we're going to bumble our way through the franchises first embarrassing playoff loss and you won't understand why I'll be pissed off about that either.

Oh yeah, you're another Texans fan.

:toropalm:

What's more? The Texans end up 10-6 on the season. Only one game above 2009, while the Titans have matched our 2009 record by winning today.

I'll never believe Kubiak again (not that I ever should have - shame on me), but that whole, "We'll prepare for this game like any other. It's important to go into the playoffs with momentum."

You not only have no momentum now, but a loss is still a loss where I come from. Rotating the starters would have been a better way to go...unless you really didn't want to win.

Why doesn't Kubiak put Chris Myers and the rest of the starters back into the lineup on the 2-point conversion?

WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?

You have a chance to win the game and put the Titans out of the playoffs, and you leave some guy named Austin in at center to blow the shotgun snap.

Yeah, Titans are nothing. Colts were nothing but we lost to them. Panthers were sporting what? 2 wins or something? We lost to them too. Now the Titans are nothing and we've lost to them as well.

Oh yeah, except this:

WHAT IF THEY BEAT US AT HOME NEXT WEEK?????????

Wouldn't that be a delicious piece of shit pie for us to eat for the whole off-season while Titans fans bombard us with smack talk about how "The REAL AFC South champions" beat the fake AFC South champions? Do you guys not understand this? You don't lay off like this, you capitalize and you shove the dagger into their hearts. Period.

What if Myers, Foster, Joseph, Cushing or anyone else gets hurt?

We simply cannot afford any more injuries to key players, then we'd lose any ways and instead would have to wonder what could have been.

If we lose to the Titans next week than so be it. It would be a deserved loss. I don't give a flip what Titan fans think, they are usually over confident and I'm sure they are prancing about right now about how they beat us.

OR WHAT IF Cincy gets in but Myers just went down on a useless game we didn't even need.

Team played hard IMO, (YES you can play hard in a loss) the B-team of the Texans almost beat a team that was doing everything it could to win the game.

The Titans might, the Bengals might, the Raiders might, etc.. but we are and we prepared for what's more important to US. You can't be this cautious and expect to win in the NFL, not at least if you want to win meaningful games deep into the part of the season when most teams are staying home and watching on TV.

This team coasted in benching several key players and almost still won it at the end. And I like the decision to go for two at the end; there was more to lose in potential OT injuries than there was to gain by hoping to win it in OT.

The Texans are hardly the first playoff team with little to play for in Week 17 to drain the bench. I think the only coach who rarely sits his starters in a meaningless Week 17 game (in terms of playoff position) is Belichick. And one of these days he'll get bitten in the ass when a starter goes down. But the point is, Kubiak is far from alone in approaching a Week 17 game with no playoff seedings likely on the line (pretty much had #3 locked up) by protecting the guys he'll need in the playoffs.

I hear ya herv. I just have confidence that we would kick their ass. The defense was pretty blah in terms of play calling. And we substituted early and often. But I don't see the confidense that they could get out of that

Yep, seems like they need Baltimore to win and Denver AND Oakland to win.

Well, I'm glad THAT is all that needs to happen.

I mean, the Broncos are playing a really DEADLY Chiefs team today.

And Raiders facing a truly helper skelter Chargers team today.

Anything can happen, guys.

By the way, all this is a moot point IF we had beaten the team we faced today. And I don't care if we face a tougher team in round 1 next week. I just wanted to end the season on a winning note, and to deny the Titans ANY hope of a playoff spot. But we gave them one if other team comply this afternoon.

They need 3 teams to win, it would have been easier if the Jets had won apparently.

You're right. This is from musiccitymiracles...

So here is what we have- since the Jets lost to the Dolphins, we have to have the Bengals lose to the Ravens, the Broncos beat the Chiefs and the Raiders beat the Chargers. If any of those three things do not happen the Titans will not make the playoffs.

I don't want there to be ANY chance of ANY AFCS team (a) being in the playoffs to begin with, and (b) finding a way to go further in the playoffs...especially at OUR expense.

And we should definitely still have heart that we're in the playoffs and can win a game, but I know that feeling you are speaking of. It's the whiff of seasons past and what that aroma means to Texans fans who have been around long enough to recognize it's distinct smell.

I want a full dismantling of whatever team we face next week. No mercy.

The REWARD should have been beating them down TODAY and moving on for whatever happens in the playoffs. Instead, it's giving a wild animal another chance at pouncing on you form the darkness when you should have killed him off instead of feeling superior to him.

I have the same feeling. I'd love it if the Texans could just obliterate whoever we play. Even if we had that killer instinct though, I don't think this team is good enough to blow any team out anymore. Not without a solid QB. But I do think we have a good chance of winning next week.

If the Bengals win, it's over period for the Titans and the Bengals own the last wild card spot. If the Ravens win then the Broncos and the Raiders have to win. One of those (Denver or Oakland) will be the division champs and the other will lose out the final wild card spot to the Titans through some merry-go-round of tie breakers. By your thinking, we shouldn't have even tried to score that last TD either, right? I mean, we were risking INJURIES!!!! OMG!!!!!

Are you serious? You say we were playing meaningless "scrubs" (your words, btw) and yet you don't want those scrubs to risk getting hurt by going into overtime?

I thought the 2-point strategy was dumb. Kick the extra point and play one more series for a chance at a game-winning FG by Rackers. The risk of injury is, yet again, a red herring excuse to prop up the idea that what we did was OK.

i think a lot of that has to do with being a texans fan TBH. But lets be realistic, we have a 3rd string QB who hasnt played to bad considering, we have missed AJ for more than half the season, no M.W, no Schaub.

We will be fine, all of our starters will be in next week and AJ has been waiting for this moment his whole career, he will go beast mode gurantee it, foster will be back, O.D will be back, JoJo will be back and our Defense will have all the true #3 ranked D on the field throughout the play offs. My only point to what you're saying is this: What IF we have a repeat brain fart performance next week like we did vs. Colts with all these badd-ass starters we have?

They should have been played, or at least insert key players into the lineup on the 2-point conversion to have a great shot at converting it and winning the game. Our guys high-five each other and laugh at the Titans, and they go home knowing they have ZERO shot at playoffs and no chance at meeting us again.

They aren't loose. They've been standing not doing anything for over an hour knowing their day was pretty much over, you are asking for someone to get hurt by throwing them out there cold and expecting them to go 100% even for one play. I don't think anyone was expecting for us to get the ball back at the end, I doubt they got a chance to properly warm up

to me I don't understand the bitching that is going on (not pointing fingers here just saying in general).. if this would have meant something ...after the false start penalty by dreeson... Kubiak would have kicked for the tie.. I know Kubiak isn't the smartest person in the room at times, but going for two after the penalty instead of the tie.. basically says"lets get out of here, win or lose and prepare for the playoffs"

This isn't a new thing that teams pull their starters when they have nothing to gain when it comes to playoff position and seating ..

We have seen this year in and year out.

Agreed.

If I was a season ticket holder and saw this game get handled the way it was, I'd feel a little cheated, personally. You guys just paid reg season prices to watch essentially a 5th preseason game.

Delhomme played well enough to lead this team to a win, and Kubiak cut his knees out from underneath him by putting in 2nd and 3rd string o-linemen who couldn't run block and couldn't pass protect. And STILL, Delhomme almost got it done.

What a shit thing to do to a guy like Delhomme, making him play with scrubs while the opponent hunts you down all game long and you don't stand a chance against it....but yet he still almost got it done??? LOL.

Just a little help is all we needed. Just a little help from the HC.

During the entire back segment of the season, we've played not to lose..........and we've lost. In this game, it appeared that the first option was to lose, the second was to lose while not trying to look like we were trying to lose.
