Yep, it's a 'careful what you wish for' schedule. Playoffs = tough following schedule.

And LOTS of nationally televised games :/

Where you finish in the division only accounts for 2 games but that can be the difference.

Let me clarify right away that it's early.

JAX, IND, TEN won't be better than us. :kitten:

MIA - We own them
BUF - That spread O got figured out, might lose their best WR (Johnson)
NYJ - Sanchez has regressed/That D ain't scary no more
NE - Tough

PIT/BAL - Tough
DEN/OAK - Oakland will be good, but they kind of mortgaged the future. Not sure about Denver.

MIN - Rebuilding
DET - Tough (turkey day game likely)
GB - Tough (SNF game potential)
CHI - Forte likely gone, Defense a year older

I see the same amount of tough games we had this year. We went 3-2 vs. teams CURRENTLY in the postseason.

Gimme 10-6 at worse. We won't have those same injuries like this year. Don't overrate the schedule, fam.

Predicting anything before offseason free agency and the draft probably isn't worth the time. But we all do it anyway. LOL. Looking at that schedule, and given Wade Phillips comes back and Schaub and AJ stay healthy AND we get ourselves another WR, I can see 12 wins against a tough as nails schedule.

Take Wade away from us and throw in a few injuries and a bad draft, and we could be looking at a 4 to 6 win season.

I think you need to worry about getting through the rest of this season and offseason before worrying about next year. You're no spring chicken.

A chicken with a fuctional pecker is better than a 4-12 season.

A very early look at it makes it look like a 6-2 or 7-1 home schedule, we just gotta find a way to win 3 or 4 of those road games.

The good news, other than the matchups with the 1st place winner from the AFC North and AFC West, our division opponents have the same opponents. Not gonna be easy for anybody. 9 wins could take the division next year, but obviously the Colts or someone in our division could take a huge leap forward.

Detroit is going to be a Thanksgiving game. I'm hoping it is. GB, NE, and the Jets are other games I think could be in primetime.

shit we will have a healthy Schaub, AJ, possibly Mario. We will dominate those scrub ass teams :polevault:

According to this article the Thanksgiving game in Detroit will either be Houston or Indy. http://www.detroitnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011112300413

"Coming to Ford Field next season will be St. Louis, Seattle, Houston, Indianapolis and Atlanta.

The Thanksgiving Day game will be against either Houston or Indianapolis"

With the season we had and the Colts/Peyton's future up in the air I have to think we pretty much have a Thanksgiving game locked up next season.

Are you sure about that one? Or did you mean the NFC North. We played the AFC North (CLE, CIN, PIT, BAL) this season. I didn't think we played the same division in successive seasons.

I believe that is the slot reserved for the team that takes that division, not the whole division. Both of those divisions are still up in there air.

According to the linked article it is only between Houston and Indy. No Atlanta. Don't be shocked if it goes to Indy. The NFL always seems to screw Houston.

Win all your home games and half your away games and you're 12-4.

The Texans should have 6 gimmes within their division.

Having Minnesota, Buffalo, and Miami at home means they have another three gimmes at home.

That's 9 games right off the bat the Texans should win without too much trouble.

If they can't win 10 or 11 games and the division again next year, it's time for a change.

What's the over/under on the number of sacks we get against Jay Cutler? I'm going with 6.

Mario (if he's back) might do what Osi did to McNabb to Cutler.

This^^^^^!! Don't like Monday night games either! But, national attention is good for the players, I understand that. The lack of National recog is probably what cost some of our guys a trip to Hawaii. We need fans from all over the NFL to become fans of our Texans! Other than that, I detest games sch during the week.

I want the Texans showcased on Thanksgiving. It and Super Bowl Sunday is when even non football fans watch the games.

TheMatrix31
12-31-2011, 07:42 AM
Meh, the last thing we need is more morons watching football.

The real fans will watch whenever, that's all that matters.

The only game I want "casual fans" to watch us in is the Super Bowl. That's it.

Does anyone have a problem with this?

I know it's early, & we've still got this season to play out. But I definitely agree that we should win 10 games regardless. This year should serve as the standard. Good coaches, good teams, overcome.

I think it's WAAAAAY too early to talk about how many wins we could have next season, much less "easy" wins, before the draft, free agency, coaching changes, etc, etc, etc...

Yeah I think it's between us and Atlanta.

Detroit is scheduled to play on CBS for Thanksgiving next year. That means that the road team will come from the AFC... Detroit plays two home games vs. the AFC: Houston and Indy. Therefore, Houston or Indy must be the game scheduled next Thanksgiving vs. Detroit.

This year the Texans front office had its best offseason with Free agent signings and a very good draft. The Coaching staff seems to hit a great stride Wade has been amazing and Kub has done a great job with all the injuries this team has suffered. The players have played with a chip on thier shoulders and a swagger. I am hoping that all these things which is the mark of a good team transfer next year and become the norm here in Houston.

Things to look forward too.
Our O Line played great this year and that was without depth we lost Rashad Butler (T) and another strong BU linemen his name escapes me right now if we had this depth this year our OLine would have been fresher and even more dominant

AJ healthy

A full offseason of defense working in Wades system

Get Mario Backand Sharpton a key back up ILB

A healthy Schaub

We're very fortunate that our OL has stayed as healthy as it has. But depth at the OL spot doesn't keep our boys fresh. There is no regular rotation for the OL like there is for the DL.... they play every offensive snap, like the QB.

It'd be cool if it were after our bye.
